russader
I have 8 gigs of ram in my machine, but only 3.2 show up when booting into the XP partition. I have never looked to see how much was actually being used. So I guess this is a two part question. If I install XP 64 instead of regular XP will the extra 5.8 gigs of ram do anything benificial? Will Oblivion even run in XP64? BTW I am running around 100 mods. I don't know if this effects the amount of ram used, or if it is so subtle it doesn't matter. Falcata
Yes, the remainder would be used if you switched to Windoze XP 64. 32-bit CPU's only support up to 4 gigabytes of memory, while 64 bit CPU's can support up to 16 exabytes (16,000,000,000 gigs). As well, the maximum amount of RAM your computer can support depends on operating system and motherboard support. I would only suggest switching to the 64-bit version of Windoze if your processor can run in 64bit mode. As far as I know, Oblivion will run in XP64, but it will be running in 32-bit mode, so it won't be able to take advantage of the extra performance that 64bit mode provides. MalachiDelacot
"How ram hungary is oblivion?" Interesting title. First glance, I thought this was a thread on cooking mutton for player characters. Apologies for being off topic. Can't help myself. As per the 100 mods, shouldn't be any trouble unless you wear everything and be everywhere at once.
