Is there a specific thread or link I can go to that explains how to make HGEC clothing? I have used the search function to no avail. I might be entering in the wrong combinations though. Can anyone help?

First of all (you didn't specified) do you have any modelling experiences? Making clothes involves a series of hard tasks (just as making armors).

You need to know how to edit the clothing, how to rig it, how to export it etc. Hard, hard work :P

Cheers

No experiance what so ever, nore do I expect anyone to go into great detail as to how here. There has to be a link or thread somewhere that tells how to do it.

does anyone know where I might find such a link?

You can learn everything about modding here:

Construction Set Wiki

Don't worry...it's not just about the Construction Set...you can learn here everything. You can also find some usefull links to free modelling software and tutorials.

Cheers

Then your best option is probably not to create new meshes, but instead retexture stuff. Creating new meshes requires actual understanding and experience with a 3d modeling program like blender, and a very firm basis of it at that, before you can even start to think about making new clothing meshes. Even things like weapons take significant amounts of effort and skill, especially if you aren't just combining primatives.

Most of the tutorials around those things are aimed toward people who are already familiar with that particular software. There is no beginners guide to making clothing and armor meshes because beginners have absolutely no business even trying. And if one did exist, it would likely only result in scaring people off because the length that it would need to be in order to explain how to do everything.

Long story short, forget more complicated things for now, learn the software by making less complicated things, become familiar with the .nif format and using nifscope, and then in 6 to 10 months, come back to whatever you were planning to do.

Vagrant0 and Maafiaman are only partly right. It is best to start with Nifskope and learn to manipulate niffs by changing the textures. Then you should learn some basics about either photoshop, gimp, or paint to recolor or create new textures, but don't let all that talk scare you off about Blender. Start at the Tes Nexus site and search on Blender. Then go to the articles section and look in Modding and Modeling. You will find a plethora of tutorials on Blender at Tes. If you are clever and learn fast you can pick it up. You don't need to understand all the functions of Blender to be able to use it.

But may I ask with all the great clothes and armor available why do you want or need to make your own?
