Rennn
It doesn't go in the Data folder. It goes in:My Documents > My Games > Skyrim Also, copying an ini from someone is a really bad idea. It'll probably break your game until you get rid of it anyway. If you just delete yours, Skyrim should make a new one as soon as you launch the game. MorwynKelm
Close all running Notepads (or INI edits) and run the SkyrimLauncher.exe and let it create the INIs you need.
eric31415
You don't need someone else's ini. Just rename (or even delete) the one you have. Then run the game from SkyrimLauncher.exe (NOT straight from the exe or thru SKSE). The game will redetect your hardware and generate a new ini. It is always a good idea to start a new game at this point and get thru to the first point that you can save. After making that save, you can go back to your old ones. Edit- after re-reading your post it seems that your problem is that you can't access the "data files" option from the launcher menu. If this is true, add the following line to the [Launcher] section of your ini. Note - make sure you edit the right ini, the one you want is in Documents/MyGames/Skyrim/SkyrimPrefs.ini. bEnableFileSelection=1 This seems to fix the issue for those that experience it.
