ryoken1972
Hiya, i have a problem which is doing my head in , i have a evga 970 sc card connected to 3 monitors. (2 HDMI and 1 dvi cables )with the resolution at 5760x1080, using nvidia surround, everything works ok ,latest nvidia drivers (even though i have tried a few older versions but they didn't change anything) and flawless widescreen softhowever,if i fire fallout up , game works fine all lovely and wide screened :)until ...........if i pick a lock the left monitor goes off, EG it looses signal but comes back on after a few seconds ,or worse the load screens , going from one area to another EG , house to outside , or a lift. left monitor goes off (blue) then it goes into standby, you have to physically turn it off, then back on again , then it will work ok , untill the next time i want to lockpick or open a door :) i did loose the will to live a while ago with it , and re formatted my rig, and did a fresh install of fallout and w10 x64 problem still happensi did a few week ago swap the middle monitor with the left one , as originally it was the middle monitor that went off. so i bought a new cable and swapped them round,i can use the rig normally for hours, i can play settlers 2 on my left monitor , film on middle and explorer on right with no problems at allso its not a cable fault, . not a monitor fault.all my voltages are ok , the card isnt over heating , it worked ok before,.can a port on the card go bad?. isnt the 970 sc good enough for widescreen gaming , has it just given the ghost up , im getting to the point now , where its either got to be hardware or software , and im fighting the urge to buy a 1080 just to rule out the card being the problem , but its a 700£ gamble my wife wont like me to take :)ideasCheers steve
Erik005
Yes 5760x1080 would be a bit much for a 970. You are trying to run 6.2 million pixels, 4K is 8.3 million and fullHD which the 970 should run fine is only 2 million. So if you get a new card maybe a GTX1080 won't even be enough and a 1080ti would be the better choice. Edited February 7, 2018 by Erik005

Erik005
typical the most expensive card my local shop sells :smile:it has worked flawlessly in the past though , that's what I cant understand 5760x1080 is a pretty high workload, maybe something has gone wrong with the power delivery it happens. I wouldn't buy any new graphics card right now anyway just use one 1080p monitor for a while and wait for the prices to go down. ryoken1972
yeah could do , i suppose , after all i think spending upto 800£ just to play fallout in 3 screens is just a tad overkill, i like the game , but not that much :)
ryoken1972
:nuke: just to let you know , I changed the display from 5760x1080 and surround desktop in NVidia to plain old extend my desktop in w10 , and running f4 in 1080 , just for giggles I ran a 1080 movie on the left monitor , and paused it . . (obviously f4 in windowed mode so I could see it:) and its still going off, not as much but it still isgrrrrr now what?:(
Erik005
It could be your power supply, what model is it and how old is it. The power supply is the only part of a computer that physically ages. Maybe switch the monitors around? Edited February 8, 2018 by Erik005
HeyYou
Would adding a second 970 do any good??
EyMi
isnt the 970 sc good enough for widescreen gaming , has it just given the ghost up The 970 is not rly a top pick for your goal... a 2nd 970, aye no. So aim for the 1080 or ti or wait for nvidias upcoming gpu's and grab a gtx with enough ram and bandwidth/memory interface. The psu could also cause the prob, but rly depends on your psu, old, low-end and so on. Soo write down your specs pls.
