Nofsdad
This is one I haven't seen before. My mouse buttons no longer work. That is, they no longer work in FNV. I have equip/attack mapped to the left mouse button and block mapped to the right one. The left one doesn't work for sure and I can't draw my weapon, let alone fire it. I have tried it with another mouse and tried my regular mouse in other games where it works fine so the problem is definitely between the mouse and FNV. All other mouse functions work fine. I can turn left/right, scroll through 3rd person view, etc. It's only the buttons pertaining to weapons and/or combat that aren't working. Right now, I'm thinking one of the game files may have gotten corrupted somehow but really don't have a clue otherwise. Has anyone else ever had this problem? If so, how did you fix it? Update: It turns out that nothing having anything to do with weapons or combat works, either with the mouse or the keyboard. I've remapped the controls, set them back to default... nothing to do with weapons is accessible. I can't even equip my bare hands for unarmed combat. Everything else works perfectly. I'm pretty sure it's going to require me to redownload and reinstall the game but so far I haven't found any way to do that either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ThanksT Edited April 4, 2012 by Nofsdad
JimboUK
Delete the Fallout.ini and FalloutPrefs.ini from Documents/My Games/FalloutNV, start the game and let it recreate them (you'll have to redo your options). If that doesn't work try verifying your game files, right click on the game in your Steam library and select properties, click the local files tab and then hit verify integrity of game cache. Nofsdad
Thanks for the quick reply. I finally came across the instructions for verifying that game files and did so last night. It said two were bad and would be reacquired. Did that and still same problem. So renamed my FNV folder and did the verify again which allowed it to redownload and install the entire game. Basically, what I have is an entirely new installation but still no go. The game starts, I can create a character, talk, move around, pick up stuff, etc. but I cannot do anything that has to do with equipping any items/weapoms. I know the mouse is working... I've been creating new characters through all this and the vigor tester machine and character creator work OK. That;s what is so frustrating... that and the fact that there's no logical reason why only the one function should be affected, Right now, I'm about to do a deep delete of the entire game, getting rid of all the registry entries and other tidbits tidbits as well as the files themselves and do the redownload operation again. If that doesn't do the trick then it looks like my Fallout days may be done. Thanks againT Edited April 4, 2012 by Nofsdad
Nofsdad
SOLVED!! Had to Google for it but found this thread http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/390342-cant-draw-weapons-fire-or-crouch/ in which rausheim provides what turned out to be a simple solution. Simply open the console and type "EnablePlayerControls" (no quotes). Wish I had found that thread before I did all that other stuff but what the hey, it's working now. Many MANY thanks to rausheim as I was ready to delete the ggme and move on. Now to start reinstalling all those mods.
