Deleted1205226User
I suggest, for those interested, a reading of Jill Bolte Taylor's book: "My stroke of insight: A Brain Scientist's Personal Journey"It offers some clues about what's is going on in there. Some are already given in her talk.
Reneer
I somehow missed that TED talk back in 2008 when it was all the rage. I could barely get through that video. I was expecting some good solid science, not a 20 minute oratory on love and peace on the planet Earth. Edited February 10, 2018 by Reneer
Deleted1205226User
The book goes much more into the scientific parts, the spiritual one is only coming in the end and is easily skipable. The good part in the Video is the analogy left part of the brain = serial processor/ right part = parallel processor which, at least to me, explain a few things related to the Potential of the Human Brain. But yes, Love and Peace on Earth has become some outdated concept or even a ridicule one for some.
Reneer
I'm not intending to imply that the concept of "peace and love on the planet Earth" (thank you, ) is bad or anything like that, of course, or anyone expressing that desire or wish is wrong or anything. I express it a good amount myself sometimes. And certainly the concept of a serial / parallel processor in regards to the human brain is a good analogy. I just didn't expect to go from "here is a literal human brain" level of scientific inquiry to Bodhisattva level compassion quite so fast. Fkemman11
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2542895/ https://hub.jhu.edu/2017/08/10/mapping-brain-fruit-fly-connectome/ https://www.braininitiative.nih.gov/?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1 http://www.humanconnectomeproject.org/ We're not going to see the human brain mapped in our lifetimes it seems. We have the technology, but, it will require an especially long time and tedious amount of prodding to see what does makes us do what. Even then those findings would give but just a glimpse of how the brain actually works in all situations- and that's just a healthy brain study. Neurologists here and elsewhere might give more insight into how brains are affected by various types of injuries. Of course I keep popping American Institutes with google. Might be better info/research elsewhere in the world. I would assume that trying to understand the human brain would be high priority for the more advance societies of the world.
