Nexus Mod Manager - New features / improvements, please

Hello all,

since this is my first post I apologize if this is not the correct part of the forum.

What I really miss in the Nexus Mod Manager are one function and one improvement:

(1) A "find" function for installed mods. When you have installed like 50+ mods on SSE, I sometimes have problems (especially considering some mods have interdependencies) finding the location of (a) mod(s) in the tree. A simple CTRL+F search box where you type in a string, e.g. "ordinator", would help - highliting the mods (and, if not opened yet) opening any tree branches.

(2) Reinstalling a mod does not give proper information in the Mod Activation Queue window. The progress is not updated properly.

Thanks for considering or any comment.

NMM has a replacement already and the name of the new program is VORTEX .... it is up to you if you continue using NMM but when Vortex is out ( probably this weekend ) for the entire community, it will ask you if you want to import your mods from NMM so it is kind of pointless to continue with NMM when there is already another program that it is much better than NMM and has the functions that you are asking for.

Your petition will not be considered at all because they will not continue developing NMM. My recommendation is to wait for Vortex. In the meantime, I suggest that you look for videos in YouTube, especially, the one made by Gopher so you will have an idea how this new program works and what to expect once it is available for everybody.

Ah ... Didn't know about VORTEX so far and will look into it. Bwt I didn't have problems with NMM in general; sometimes it just took me some time to find certain mods in the tree view, since not all patches are under patches etc. Anyways, thank you sopmac45 for sharing the VORTEX info. Thread can be closed.

In the tab marked Mods, do you see that rectangle at the top in between the lightbulb and the tools icons? That is where you type something like Ordinator and it will come up on the screen below. Wish there was also a similar function for the plug-ins column, but the plug-ins frequently are named something other than the mod title. For a search that goes solely by name, such a result might not show anything.

The mod activation queue does have a progress column, but it is not steady in the readout. Suspect that has something to do with some files being much larger than others.

Glad I did not download NMM 6.0 when it came out. I waited for the guinea pigs... excuse me... I mean honored fellow users to report the bugs and let them be worked out during the course of the next six iterations. Being an old worry wort, I might use that same strategy for Vortex. I will be especially keen to see any Gopher tutorial videos and see if Vortex has the NMM ease of use or whether it has gone the Mod Organizer route of being a power users tool for those who do not mind the learning curve and are avid troubleshooters. Those avid power users will no doubt have a glowing report on the superiority of Vortex, as long as it is complex. If it is simple, I will read praises from basic users whom I can readily identify with.
