Need help in understanding textures and body replacers

Hey guys and gals,

 

I have been fiddling with mods on my Skyrim for a couple of years now, and one thing I have never really understood is textures and

body replacers.

 

My question is this...can you have more than one body replacer likd CBBE and UUNP activated in your load order at the same time?

Can you have more than one texture loaded at the same time as well?

 

Any advice would be cool. I've looked around a bit and I see lots of advice on which ones are the best to use. I just dont

see the answers to my questions above.

No. They change exactly the same files. What ever is installed/loaded last is what you get in-game, as it completely overwrites the other mod.

No. For exactly the same reason as above. This goes for any mesh/texture replacer that changes the same thing.

so in general you really can only have one body mod and one set of textures , as the game only has one such file for each gender . however mods can direct the game to use different files , so you could have a different body for your character

Okay. So I should just delete (or deactivate) the one I don't want?

not exactly

if you are using MO (or MO2) , that would be enough

however , if you are using NMM , you should uninstall both mods , and then install the one you want to use

the reason is that when you install the second mod , it overwrites the files from the first . if you remove the mod , it will remove the files

thus you should reinstall the mod you want to use , after removing the one you don't want
