Ottomancer
Hello,I have been trying to do some editing to the mesh's of mods that I have downloaded via nifscope. When I edit something in it like changing the size and or position of things on the armor or body mesh, the display window in nifscope shows my edits, and then when i am happy with it i save it, but when i start the game there was no effect on the mesh. Example, I was editing the CHSBHC female body mesh trying to make things less big, saved and no in game effect, i even made an arm super huge to see if it would effect in game, and it didn't. What am I doing wrong, what am I missing?
ghosu
After you edited a block (like raising the scale) rightclick, TRANSFORM=>APPLY
Ottomancer
I have been doing that, but with no effect. What I have been able to effect, tho near useless for my purposes, is i can adjust the total scale of the "1 NiTriShape" armor mesh or the "9 Nitrishape" body mesh but to effect any of the "XX NiNode" which effect the body parts such as arms legs etc, there is no in game effect. I notice if i change the scale and apply it to the "NiTriShape" like chaning scale from 1 to 2, after applying it it makes it 1 but remains bigger, but when i change the scale of a NiNode like forarm 1 to 2 and apply it, it stays at 2 looks big on the window but has no change in game.. I feel like I am missing something to apply? Thank you for you continued help.
ghosu
Well that works fine to scale a weapon's whole node...but you might try this:http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/630899-finally-figured-out-nifskope-mesh-transforms greetings
Ottomancer
Thank you for your help so far, I read and did exactly what that suggested, but no effect. The values in the NiNodes match the DismemberskinInstance Ninodes as well. Its like you said, I can effect the entre scale of the body and or its clothes, but any adjustments I make to the NiNodes (like larger legs, smaller chest, etc) tho change the image in NifSkope, it has no effect in game. :/ Thank you again, do you have any further suggestions? ghosu
Nope, sry...i can just imagine that you can only scale the whole thing so it stays in correct proportion to the bones...but i have no big idea 'bout bodies and armor, i do weapons all the time - they are easier to edit ;) So just wait for someone with more armor experience, otherwise you are...DOOMED :D Edited April 6, 2012 by ghosu
Ottomancer
Any one else able to throw me a bone? I dont want to do anything crazy I just want to edit a few pre-exicting nif meshes and make them work in game. I am a little overwhelmed by some of this, it seemed simple enough to just change values of the ninodes in nifskope but that doesnt effect the mesh in game...I downloaded 3d stuido max, but its even more overwhelming, I cant for the life of me find the ninodes that were in nifskope... Please help.
Perraine
I'm not an expert on .nif files (maybe ThottleKitty will stop by?) but you MAY also need to change the value for the individual bones under the NiTriShape AND/OR the individual bones in the Dismember node as well as well  I've had plenty of success adjusting the position and scale of the WHOLE mesh once I figured out the part about the DismemberSkin being the same as the NiTriShape, but I've never tried to edit a single part of a mesh ...
