MistressShiki
Alrighty~ Hello there everyone! As you can see, this is my first post on these forums. I'll start by introducing myself. My name is Shiki, and I've gotten into Skyrim modding fairly recently. I've mucked around with the CK, making myself little shacks and quests and the like. So I am very familiar with the way the CK works at this point. However, I recently had an idea to completely redo Skyrim. Don't get me wrong, Skyrim is one of, if not the best games I've ever played. But, it is lacking in the realistic role playing aspects of the game. Please note that this mod won't be for everybody. It will be focusing on making Skyrim more realistic and interesting, and only that. If you enjoy being an overpowered female with little clothing on that looks like a supermodel, and you are enjoying the game that way, then this mod probably won't be for you. However, if you are open to a new style of play, or wish for a more interesting role playing experience, then you may find this mod to your liking as it is released. So what will this mod actually do? Well, I have a fairly long list of things I'd love to include in it, but I haven't checked to see if they are all possible yet. So some of these items might never be implemented as it is impossible to do so. Please do take note of that. Skyrim World: -A completely redone world. It is still Skyrim, and it will still have the basic story line of the game, but it will be completely redone. All new towns, cities, places, dungeons, quests, story lines and more. I know some people may not like that, but I felt the the world as a whole needed work. Some of the quests were a bit to outlandish. Yes, Skyrim is a FANTASY game. But that's no excuse to think that is could never exist. For example, I plan on keeping the Dark Brotherhood, but I will completely redo their story line, making it harder and longer. Same with most of the other guilds. Plus I'm even thinking of adding a hunting guild or something like that. -All new npc's. Of course, beasts like Ulfric will stay as they are, but people like Ralof have to go. Seriously. He owes his life to the player, but we practically never interact with him again in the game. He's not a follower, nor does he even try to repay our saving him. He needs more flesh. Most of what I'll do with this part is just flesh people out so they're more dynamic. -New sides to join. As of now, you can only join the stormcloaks and the imperials. Fun for a while, but after that....well.....big whoop. What about those Thalmor...and those bandits....and that nasty group of pirates somewhere? Why can't we go join them for some more diversity? Well, in this mod I plan to take care of that. It'll give you the ability to join whatever you want. Tribes, groups of bandits, ect. -An all new realistic experience. I plan to make the game much more interesting, brutal, and harsh. The story line should have an impact on you. You should be able to remember characters and feel sorrow if they die. Survival: -In terms of surviving.....well. Skyrim is about as far away from realistic as anything. Your health regenerates.....you can heal yourself with spells and potions automatically, you can take an arrow to the head and still be alright......see where I'm going with this? It's not realistic. Period. It even gets a bit redundant after a while. So, I plan to completely change this up. -Health regeneration. This has to go. When you are in a fight and you get wounded, you won't just regenerate. You're going to need to take a couple days or so to recover. Get some bandages and some medicine. Try and make sure the wound won't get infected. As far as the healing spells go, it will heal your wound, but it won't regenerate your health. You're going to need time and rest for that to happen. It will very slowly regenerate when you do that. -When you're wounded....you need to stop the bleeding or you'll bleed to death. I plan on implementing a feature of gathering things from the Forrest, or using an unused piece of clothing to use as a bandage till you can get a good one. -Food. Err.....so in Skyrim we don't even have to eat....? Err.....problem....? Yes. I plan on making eating necessary. If you don't eat you will starve to death. However, not all food is the same. An apple won't fill you up like a roasted goat would. I also plan on adding tons of new recipes to the game. And some new fish, as that department is lacking. -Animals. So apparently, all animals in Skyrim are the same.....where are the babies? The elders? I plan on adding some new types of each animal. -Camping. Why can't we? Well, I plan on making it so you can. Go buy/make some camping supplies and set up camp every night if you're too far away from your base. -Weather. Uh....wearing short sleeves in the tundra mountains? No way. You'll freeze to death. I plan on adding a system of clothing and temperature stuff.....like if you go too long in the cold, you'll die of hypothermia. However, if you've got a nice warm fuzzy animal coat.....well good for you. Don't stay out too long though. -And more. I'll update this list as I think of some new things, or things that are suggested to me. Combat: -Alright....combat can get very redundant in Skyrim. Run in slashing away and hope you hit something. You can afford to do this since your health is regenerating and you've got 20 instant healing things. How is this realistic? When you shoot an enemy in the head they should die. And in this mod they will. However, if you get hit with an arrow in the head and you don't have the proper armor on....you will die. This will make combat more realistic, and it will force you to think before you rush into battle. Even if you do live...you've got wounds to take care of. Other: -Marriage. If a person is not already married.....well.....they're fair game in this mod. Marry anyone you want provided they are available. -Other things.....once I think of them will go here. There's lots more I'm planning for this mod that I've forgotten and will add here soon. It will be a huge project so it will get done faster if some people would maybe volunteer to help. I don't really need help, but it would be very much appreciated. Especially people who know scripting, as I am weakest at that. I hope to make this game a more satisfying and realistic role playing experience for people who want a game like that. I know I would since I have always preferred playing a poor hunter who survives off of the woods. But that play style and Skyrim don't mix too well, so I'm determined to change it. Thanks for taking the time to read or acknowledge my humongous post. ^-^
shotgun188
Not being able to marry everyone thing is realistic, what are the chances of everyone in Skyrim wanting to marry you?
McclaudEagle
This is a very interesting idea, and I for one do enjoy realism mods (currently making one for Fallout 3). I did think about creating one for Skyrim, but I identified one flaw with the realistic combat. If the combat is realistic, then it won't matter whether you have an Iron Sword, or a Daedric Sword because the damage difference will be fairly minimal. As a result, the swords and stuff will become purely aesthetic. Just thought I'd point that out.
MistressShiki
Shot~ Haha, you got me there. I wouldn't know if it would be possible to do that....maybe if you had to do a quest or something for them before you had the option of marrying them? XD Eagle~ You bring up a good point....though in the realistic point...it would be aesthetic. In a real battle it wouldn't matter what your sword looked like...it would still just be a sword. Maybe I'll try and add some advantages to the different swords. Like the daedric sword being longer and able to cut people from farther away....idk. I'll think about it. Thanks again for making me aware of that. ^-^
johndud0
this sounds like a good idea, i might actually start playing skyrim again if this mod works, if you could implement a dodge mechanic for combat that would be a dream, and different animations for weapon attacks. also if your interested i have a mod request below you might be interested in, it can be quite complex and i have no clue if its possible but let me know. thank you and enjoy yourself http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/668591-is-this-combat-mod-possible-with-the-skyrim-engine/
