That's what happens when you start a new character and immediately go get the sword. Items that are rewards for quests are reduced (or increased) in power to match the level of the player. It's a way to keep some balance in the game.

Alright thx guys for your support (kudos submitted :) )

@Woogie:

I know the leveled stats system but I checked the stats of the 'fang ( @ http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Shivering:Dawnfang) and it seems that the melee damage of it is at a minimum of 7 and that is between levels 1-4. I'm at level 3 yet all I can get is 2 pt. melee damage!? :wallbash: I mean even the crappy grummite dagger does 3 damage

@apocalypt:

I'll see you laughin when ur handling a daedric claymore that does 2 damage ;D

CS stands for construction set, its a tool for modding.

just type in TES CS in google and download it. it should be pretty easy, load oblivion, and change the damages from there

That will work, no doubt but wouldn't you also have to make the change a mod?

You shouldn't have to do this, I would think there is a mod that is changing the setting.

One more question; do you have your difficulty slider set to the hardest level? Won't hurt to check.

@hoots

My difficulty is set to %50 and as I've mentioned, even daggers have more damage?

And I don't have any mods that could alter the stats of the sword...

Maybe but the way I would test the assumption that no mods are affecting my game is to make a new save, disable all my mods restart Oblivion & use the sword.
