Ebony shields seem invisible

Just wondering if anyone else seems to miss the ebony shield texture in 3rd and 1 st person. I've downloaded several mods for shields to see if it fixes, and even a dedicated ebony amour set. But it still always just is not there when equipped . I ca see it fine in the inventory.

hi pygothian, i'm guessing that you may have the vampirism/invisible ebony shield glitch, discussed here in an old nov 2011 thread:

bethesda probably never got around to fixing this, heard skyrim vampirism is a bit buggy, i've no idea why there are scripting errors between ebony shields & vampirism.

curing yourself might fix the invisible ebony shield issue, some shortcut fixes via console (if you want to go this route) can be found here:

Thanks for the help mate! I'm never been a vampire but it sounds exactly like what I'm experiencing. Will look into it further.

you might try extracting the ebony shield mesh+texture files from the vanilla skyrim bsa's and copying them as

loose files to your \skyrim\data folder recreating the same directory structure.

doing this might force skyrim to find\use the default vanilla game files for the shield.
