jack9608
Is there a mod that can make me fail parts of the story by killing, lets say, ulfric storcloack or other characters like him? If so, can someone post a link?
soarow
Afaik those NPC's important for questlines are essential, meaning they cannot be killed only when some quest requires it, of course.
RustyBlade
Is there a mod that can make me fail parts of the story by killing, lets say, ulfric storcloack or other characters like him? If so, can someone post a link? There is indeed, however I must point out that using it that way will render certain quests unplayable and may prevent other quests from being playable as well. It could possibly break your game (not permanently, just the one you are playing.) RedRavyn
I think jack9608 is fully aware of how eliminating certain essential NPCs can break quests, RustyBlade. It's what he was asking for -- a way to kill people and break questlines. I might point out a problem that jack9608 might not be aware of, though. In the sense that single actions can utterly destroy multiple questlines, even though those quests should not, logically, be connected to each other, makes Skyrim one of the most fragile games ever released. I've said it before, and it bears saying, again: Play this game with the wiki at-hand. Before you kill any named NPC and before you enter any interior area, always consult the Notes and Bugs sections of the relevant wiki article to see if what you're about to do isn't going to break something down the line that you might actually be interested in doing. Some of the developers took care to make sure that your decisions don't break related quests. For instance, you can still acquire the "Unusual Gem" in the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary, even if you decide to do the quest "Destroy the Dark Brotherhood". On the other hand, if you pick up one of those gems, and you kill Brynjolf, the leader of the Thieves Guild, you will never be able to drop it. Picking up any one of the 24 "Unusual Gems" will automatically trigger the quest "Bring the Unusual Gem to an appraiser". The only appraiser in all of Skyrim who can identify it is Vex, the Thieves Guild fence, and she won't talk to you about it until you are a full member in good standing of the Thieves Guild. If you kill Brynjolf (who is flagged "essential" in the vanilla game), you can't join the Thieves Guild. This means you have a quest in your journal and between one and twenty-four items in your inventory that can never be cleared. That's only of many examples of how the developers intertwined quests in ways that makes it so easy to break things when you start fiddling with the essential status of NPCs. It's easy enough to break entire questlines in the vanilla game, without introducing potential game-breaking bugs by killing essential NPCs. Brandy1123
I think this needs to be moved to spoilers. To answer your intial question, here is your link. Be aware your game play will suffer unless you could care less about permanent abandoned items (some weighing quite a bit) in your inventory. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=8415
