Zathmo
Modding takes a LOT of effort. It would be a shame to lose a perfectly modded New Vegas, Fallout 3, Skyrim, etc. Lets say I wanted to be put my game on a flash drive so I can always have a backup of the game. Would I just copy the entire gameâs folder? Do I bring the âMy Gamesâ folder with it that contains the .iniâs? Just wondering how to approach this and do it right. Thanks for the help! madmongo
Yep, you've got it. The game itself and your mods will be in the default game folder (steam\steamapps\common if you got the game off of steam), and your ini files and game saves will be in My Documents. Copy both of those and you've got it all. I do this pretty commonly to back up my games so that I have a known good configuration I can get back to if I ever screw up my game by installing mods. It's also useful to copy your existing game setup to a different computer if you buy a new computer, for example. When you re-install the games later, you'll still need to install the game via steam (or cd/dvd depending on where you got the game from) as this installs some registry entries and such that won't get saved just from your file copies. But at that point it's pretty easy. Just install/download the game, copy your files over, and you're done.
