Oh no, something went wrong! Loot Problem

Hey its my first time posting here so I hope I got it right.

So I'm having trouble using loot on windows 7, I tried to use it through Mod organizer and without it but it doesn't work with both of them. Updating the masterlist and sorting plugins both leads to the "oh no something went wrong!" error. Also worthy of note is that given enough time between starting loot, the first time I try to start ends up with it not responding and me being forced to close it, the 2nd time then manages to open it and when I close it, it always ends up with it not responding again. Loot also worked before, but after some issues I had with Mod organizer not downloading stuff from nexus, which turned out to be a fault with the website at the time, I screwed around with nxmhandler and I believe thats when the issues started, although I'm not certain on this one as I also began downloading a lot of mods which may have screwed it up too.

In loot under Masterlist revision and date it says N/A: No masterlist present

In the Lootdebuglog.txt this comes up

[13:37:55.740513] [warning]: Chromium console message: Styling master document from stylesheets defined in HTML Imports is deprecated, and is planned to be removed in M65, around March 2018. Please refer to https://goo.gl/EGXzpw for possible migration paths.
[13:37:57.222598] [warning]: No masterlist present at C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\LOOT\Skyrim\masterlist.yaml
[13:38:01.519844] [error]: Exception while executing query: Git operation failed. Details: -17; unknown certificate check failure: libgit2 error

at onFailure (http://loot/ui/js/query.js:43:16)

Also the loadorder and masterlist are present in different folders than I think they should
Loadorder is in C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\LOOT\827d-78a6-598e-fe7e
Masterlist is in C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\LOOT\273d-ff5a-47ac-2ea4

I hope I got all the info someone needs to solve this down and hope you guys can help me.

Hi,

since the new installation of my system I am having the same problem.

The fix provided on the mod page (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1918/?tab=posts), i. e. installing the Windows update https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3140245/update-to-enable-tls-1-1-and-tls-1-2-as-a-default-secure-protocols-in.

It didn't fix my problem, but maybe it will help you.

I am now in the process of installing the as of yet missing updates and will try it again then.

So I downloaded the quick fix after restarting my computer and installing some leftover windows updates then started mod organizer and loot through it and updated the masterlist, which actually then worked. I finally managed to sort my load order so thanks for the advice it helped for me! I hope it works for you guys too otherwise can always discuss further here.

Update to my other post. I just download the masterlist from https://github.com/loot/skyrim.git for Skyrim and https://github.com/loot/fallout4.git for Fallout 4. You can find these websites in LOOT setting tab up in the right hand of the screen at the triple dot button under settings. What I did was turn off update masterlist before sorting. No more error the down side is if LOOT update there's the masterlist you will need to redownload it again. But at least LOOT will sorting mods and tell you if your plugins are dirty. And if you don't know where to put the download masterlist file after download. Just unzip the file and find the masterlist.yaml go back to LOOT and click triple dot button and open debug log location and it will open a window to folder were LOOT keep it logs and game data files. Just find the game(s) name folder in question. If Skyrim click Skyrim folder to open and the same steps for the other games. Then just copy over the masterlist.yaml file to the open game folder and close the folder and close LOOT. Reopen LOOT and just click sort plugin button and LOOT will sorting the plugins for you. And yes LOOT will still say Masterlist Revision unkown: Git repository missing and Masterdate unkown: Git repository missing. But for me LOOT is working without error. After doing these setting. It will sorting plugins and tell me if the plugins are dirty. I hope this will help some people out and till a real fix is made to work like it did before.
