rez194
I've decided to try my hand at modding again, and I've got a few ideas that I think would be pretty well received, but I have no idea where to start. I want to completely disassemble the perk trees and redefine the perks system entirely from ground up in my own way. I'm seeing a lot of really good perk mods but they tend to conflict or they're just ugly. The thing is I have not a clue what I'm doing and could use a nudge in the appropriate direction. Another idea I have is to make the world and the way the player interacts with it a bit more linear. I realize that defeats the whole purpose of the great lengths Bethesda and modders go to to create an open world, but I loved old RPGs like the original Final Fantasy and I miss the way it played. For instance, I find it difficult to progress in equipment and item quality as I progress in level and questline. I find one badass weapon stashed in a chest or on a bandit, or I smith one myself and I'm going to be holding on to it for God knows how long. One way to control the acquisition of equipment would be making only items and coin lootable. Maybe even restructuring the loot geologically based on a relatively concrete path laid out for the player or based on a radius of the start point with higher level enemies the further you travel in any direction. The end outcome would be a similar to what Nehrim gave, but not as in depth by any means. Just some tweaks here and there. Let me know if you think I'm in way over my head or if I'm just being entirely unrealistic. I've got a ton of ideas but I don't know have a clue where to begin, and it's so frustrating I alreadyw ant to quit trying to figure it out. Again. Thank you in advance for any response. These cover most of the basic skills. Take the time to develop a basic skill set and ask SPECIFIC questions along the way. "redefine the perks system entirely" is way to vague to answer. The better question would be "Where can I edit perks and perk trees in the CK?" To answer my own question perk trees can be found by navigating to the top tool bar and clicking Character > Actor Values. Sort the list by type and look for entries with the "Skill" type. These entries have a button labeled "Perk Tree" Individual perks can be edited or added by navigating to the Object Window and clicking Actors > Perk
