rmm200
13.3I admit, I have been corrupted by the "MO Way".I have a mod for the FNIS distribution, a FNIS overwrites mod called "FNIS Overwrites - Default", and an Overwrite mod called "Overwrites - Default".Every profile has a similar set of mods, with the overwrites unique to that mod. When I switched mods, Vortex deleted everything in my FNIS mod that was not in the FNIS Overwrites. That included the FNIS executables. How is this supposed to work with Vortex? Get rid of my Overwrites mods? Re-run FNIS every time I change profiles? What about all the other mods that create JSON files unique to that profile? Do they all get smooshed together? This FNIS hangup is really the first show-stopper I have had. Now I have to figure out how to reinstall it. The reinstall button is not cooperating. Side note: The FNIS entry on the Dashboard points to the FNIS mod. It has to be edited to point to FNIS under data/tools.
Olivir2019
Wh should you want to reinstal - if you installed FNIS through Vortex, you can just enable the mod - by default, when creating new profile, mods to get disabled (if not using the clone option). However, I think, that you would have to re-run FNIS after switching profiles, but only if you have different sets of animations in them. Also, during work with Vortex it will alert you that file for FNIS were changed outside Vortex - and you can (Apply) sync those files into FNIS mod. (but I am not sure, if this is not just for some logs or so).

This can be seen by using the File Folder view. This was apparently done by a merge-back of my FNIS Overwrites mod. There is no possible recovery except reinstalling FNIS. Olivir2019
Oh, then I'm sorry I cannot be of any help - this has never happened to me.
rmm200
I have to try bumping this one, since I got no replies on how to do it. Simple question: Some of you run FNIS with multiple profiles, and different animations in each. What is your procedure?Please...
SkunkMonkey
If I understand your problem correctly, I have a question; Did you do a deploy after running FINS and select Apply for the changes to your custom mods? Until a deploy is run, Vortex won't save the changes and you apply them.

Until a deploy is run, Vortex won't save the changes and you apply them. Problem I am having is that Vortex has no concept of an Overwrites file. If I tell Vortex to merge back - the actual FNIS mod is modified. That obviously does not work for other profiles that use different animations, but share the FNIS mod. Some of you must run Skyrim - and use FNIS. What works for you?
SkunkMonkey
I see what is happening. Since FINS modifies files installed by the FINS mod installer, when you apply during a deploy it's updating the FINS installer since that's where Vortex installed them from. If you create an overwrite mod with those changed files you will get a conflict with the files installed by FINS. Create a rule to load your mod after FINS. Now when you run the FINS utility Vortex will think those files are from your overwrites mod and update it when applying during a deploy.

When I tried using an Overwrite mod from MO - that is when Vortex deleted my FNIS executable in a merge-back... And thanks for helping!
SkunkMonkey
Just create a zip file with the proper folder/file structure and drop it in the folder Vortex is putting downloads. Then use Vortex to install it. You should get the conflict warning then and can set Vortex to load your mod after FINS.
