Ramah7
First, let me say I am new to modding but I am figuring things out. Question about FOSE I can't seem to find the answer to, though.Using NMM, which I know isn't the best, but I figured it was a good starting point, it placed the Stutter Remover into the FOSE plugin folder.I am also using the better followers mod which describes itself as needing FOSE. NMM simply placed this in the data folder. Should I move it to the FOSE plugin folder? Is that where all mods should go if they are listed as needing the fallout script extender? Thanks for any insight you can give to a modding newb. M48A5
The only files that are to go into the FOSE Plugins folder are the ones that specifically say that is were they go. Mod files are to be installed in the "Data" folder. FOSE, NVAC (New Vegas Anti-crash) and FSR (Fallout Stutter Remover) are not mods, but executable files. You need to use fose_loader.exe to start the game. There should be a button in NMM to use FOSE to launch the game. Ramah7
Ok thank you. Yea, I have already successfully configured my files to use the fose launcher instead of the base one. I just didn't know if FOSE would successfully allow mods that require it to work if they were in the base data folder instead of the FOSE plugin folder. Fallout stutter remover says in its description on nexus that the files should be put in the FOSE plugin folder, so NMM installed it for me correctly. This clarified things. Thank you for the information.
M48A5
Neither FOSE nor anything that will change the Fallout3.exe will work if the game is installed in "Program Files". Any file that is installed there will be under the control of Windows User Account Control. This prevents any program from changing any file that is installed there. The only way around this is to turn off the UAC (don't) or move the game out of Program Files and install it somewhere else (do this). Some people install the game in C:Users\(name)\Documents\MyGames. I have mine installed in C:Bethesda Softworks\Fallout3.
