Modding question

Recommended Posts

Hi,

In Oblivion it was pretty straightforward to use any music you liked in the game by just swapping some mp3's in the right folder. Now with Skyrim this seems to be a whole new story. So the first question would be: Can it be done? and the follow up: Can someone explain it to me? :)

I ask because although I really like the music made for any TES game I've played so far, I kind of like using my own stuff in the game because after over a 100 hours of gameplay, the lack of variety tends to get on my nerves.

I've put together a youtube

with the work done so far, (which isn't much at this point) and although I can relate to people who don't like this idea at all, maybe someone out there does. This is a hobby of mine, so don't expect any triple A sound quality, but I try ;)

Thanks in advance!

I'm not entirely sure if it's even possible without some sort of music mod, like the headphones in Oblivion that allowed you to play your music whenever you wanted. Since the music files are in an odd format, I'm sure there would have to be some lengthy conversions required. I think there might be more to it than that though - like the music files are coded? I've tried swapping and renaming files and have yet to get any of them to play - my game just crashes. :/ Edited by DarNilavu

Just to let you know, there is a mod on the Steam Workshop now called SkyRadio or something (it's on the second page right now) that allows you to add up to 100 of your own songs and have them played through this radio you carry around. It sounds similar to the Oblivion headphones mod that I mentioned - will be taking a look at it.
