When i was doing the survivor wasteland quest, where im told to go to Rivet City to find out about how Rivet got started. I was passing the The Jefferson Memorial, got shot at by some Mutants, and decided to go inside and wipe em all out. While inside i found the holotapes that said Dad was in vault 112, so i went to 112 and got him, took him back to Rivet, and he wants to go to Project Purity at The Jefferson Memorial with the Scientists. Did i miss a huge chunk of the game by finding those holotapes? Was there a quest that was suppose to lead me to the Jefferson Memorial to find the tapes?

Is the main quest over when Dad, the scientists, and myself head back to Project Purity?

Thanks in Advance!!

If you do not have Broken Steel, once you finish the main quest the game ends and in order to continue playing you would have to start a new game. You are just at the beginning of the game. If I were you, I would ignore the main quest at this time and continue doing the side quests until you get your level to at least 15 or better. Then go back to the main quest.

What M48A5 said.

Absolutely none of FO3's quests are time-critical, and just blowing through the mainquest means that you miss a lot. Much of the game's fun is in exploring (both the surface and underground), and doing various little side-quests that crop up. Take your time.

Thanks for the info people!! Greatly appreciated!!

I noticed that when i got those holotapes that some of the quests that were there, now say they are done, like killing tenpenny and the 3 other people the goul in the underground asked me to do. I went to tenpenny and talked to him, but he said very little, was there a guest with tenpenny that i missed? The gaurd wants me to take care of the goul prob, but from what i read on here, it really doesnt matter which route i choose with the goul problem.

If you are running a (reasonably) good guy, then killing Tenpenny probably gives the most personal satisfaction.

Check U-Tube some time - there are a score of vidoes about the ways that people have done it, ranging from gratuitous overkill to just plain bizarre.
