SKSE stops responding on launch

After having an issue with my game refusing to even start up - the window would open, would remain a black screen, and the inevitable "this program is not responding" pop-up would appear - I proceeded to methodically uninstall all my mods to try and determine what the issue was.

It's SKSE.

Running the game from the Steam launcher is fine. Running the skyrim.exe from Mod Organizer is fine. It's only once I start trying to run the game through SKSE that problems arise. Whether I run it through Mod Organizer or manually, the game remains on the black screen and stops responding.

I've installed the game utilizing the instructions in Gopher's Video. As mentioned before, I have uninstalled all other existing mods. The only thing I have not removed is the ENB in my game files.

I tried reinstalling SKSE. It's the latest version (1.7.3)

Any help would be appreciated.

I think I have mine working again. With all mods I was able to go back into game. Need to test some more and run memory blocks log. @OP what's happens when you try to launch game from inside MO with skse launcher with no mods installed/active? Have tried launching skse from MO with nothing active? Edited by Guest

I had similar problem. I was still able to launch skse through MO but my skse plugins won't work. Still trying to figure it out. I think on my end while trying to reduce stuttering with new enb file, I had gone into steam and launched to access setting s there. That are an update I got messed with skse

As I mentioned in my first post, I de-activated all mods and attempted to run only SKSE through mod organizer. That just led me to a black screen that inevitably froze.

However, after testing it today I found that I could launch SKSE through Mod Organizer without the game freezing. I'm going to go back in and carefully re-activate my other mods to see what the heck is going on here. Maybe it was just my computer being temperamental.

I thought i had it fixed, then it acted up again, then i had an idea and it seemed to work, then nope. I just cleaned the dust out of my desktop, praying that somehow make a difference. I ran a computer test on my rig and it came back good, that was before and after cleaning inside computer. Here shortly im going see if it still is problem matic and if so, I'm going reinstall skse, and maybe go old school with skse ini into data folder. I aslo wiped cleaned my app data temp files.
