Aikospacerogue
So after a year or so (probably longer) I've delved back into modding with the idea of creating custom cybernetic or prosthetic arms, but it seems that even tho we have Outfit Studio I'm still heading to a dead stop when it comes to actually getting it into the CK without it crashing and burning. Just like last time I have a new mesh with textures (lost the old one, dunno how I managed to do that tbh) https://imgur.com/p9fR1p4 Unlike last time it's at least showing up in Nifscope AND has textures, progress ! https://imgur.com/ywAtRIC But yeah, CK is crashing so that definitely means there are huge errors somewhere in the file. I would greatly appreciate any help to get this to work so I can actually start making more of these, file can be found here https://www.dropbox.com/s/pmtnqin07q17qtm/KParmorTest_01.nif?dl=0 The only tutorial I found that didn't bother with older versions of Blender or rigging/skinning in 3D apps while doing the autodesk import/export tango, wasn't even really a tutorial but a loose guide https://www.reddit.com/r/FalloutMods/comments/5ilziv/fo4_any_easy_way_to_rig_a_custom_armor_mod/
JonathanOstrus
Where are you trying to add it in CK that it's causing a crash? I was able to create an armor addon record and load the nif without issue. There's a chance it could be something related to the texture file that CK doesn't like too. Perraine
I've found sometimes that the "skinning" doesn't always work as advertised, I had some issues when trying to use a Hat from the Nuka World DLC as a base for some headgear. It either refused to show in game, or crashed the CK, depending on what I did. The solution I found was opening the outfit/item in Outfit Studio -> Export it as an .obj file -> ( -> Unload Project) Load a Reference Body ( -> start new project) -> Import the .obj -> Copy Bone Weights -> Right Click on the .obj -> click Properties and add back in the Material File Path / etc. (note: lately the .obj has been turning transparent in OS when I do this, but it's still there, it'll show in Nifskope when you load it up) -> Export to .nif (with or without the Reference Body) I then open the file in Nifskope, and make any necessary changes you may want/need. Then save with Nifskope and let it run through it's "sanitization" process. That seems to have solved most/all of my major problems with meshes in game and in the CK. On exactly the tab of your screenshot, so you got further in than me with the exact same file, lol.Hmm well it doesn't have a material, still have to figure that stuff out but I figured it had textures so I thought it should suffice. I'll keep this in mind, though what you're actually doing is removing the skinning and just redoing it, so doesn't that imply you could just start again with your original OBJ ? Either way I'm gonna keep this as an option and keep tinkering on it, thank you both  ! Edited March 14, 2018 by Aikospacerogue
Aikospacerogue
(Edit ; I keep effing up quote system ffs this is a reply to Bigandflabby's image ) Orrr hold on, that box down there is very empty while mine isn't. I was using a copy of kellogg's armor to build upon https://imgur.com/eZB2Iht this is the window where it crashes if I pick my own NIF https://imgur.com/EGttzi5 Edited March 14, 2018 by Aikospacerogue
