TheVampireDante
Most necromancers seem to only have low level vampire captives. Maybe newly turned fledglings or ones that have been caught and starved (the more power when not feeding thing must only go so far). I believe that they've got the caged vampires in order to figure out a way to achieve their kind of immortality (and potentially bypass any limitations lichdom entails), but obviously does without actually requiring the necromancer becoming a full vampire themselves. That and vampires tend to have more of a "talent" regarding necromancy than most living. It's natural to them, raising servants and guards whenever they feel the need. So it could also be an attempt to learn how that affinity presents and attempt to apply it to the necromancers own abilities, allowing them greater range and power. The more power necromancers could capture and hold a stronger vampire (for how long though?), maybe even a Vampire lord if given enough time to prepare themselves and the holding area, plus working out a plan to actually get them to that area. Then they have the problem of how to actually experiment with a subject that's on a similar power level. You've had to suppress their abilities almost entirely. Which could either destroy it, or make research useless since you've tainted the testing material. Baer2x4
I always let those 3 vampires out of their cages & they ignore me and start kicking the necromancers butts. lol
Alerios
For my part I burn them all even if I'm a Vampire lord  A question I had since a long time: If necromancers want to be immortal (lich for example), why not just become a vampire ?It's not that problematic, you just have to find a servant (something that necromancers have in abundance).
