Assault rifles with Grenade launcher attachment.

Hi all,

 

With the huge number of assault rifles mods (for example in Nexus modding website), I was wondering why there has not been Grenade launcher attachments made yet?

There is a Hotkey mod out by Registrator2000 and I think it could well be used.

 

I am not a modder, but do you guys know what is holding back?

 

Ps: I am aware of Modern Firearms mod, but everything looks so off balance in terms of damage, it's not really my play style.

great question!

it lets you have a more adaptable platform, which can be a 'combi-weapon'/

"Moe Szyslak 5-as-1" type stuff hehe

 

I usually have a flare-launcher (The Regulators, Minutemen),

or, a dart-launcher as the underslung attachment.

it just saves having to switch outright.

 

there are some kludges already.

the hotkey-mapping mod you allude to, can allow you to 'undersling a china-lake", or other such devices,

to the muzzle-affixment on the weapon.

it takes up the bayonet slot, and allows you to use alternate fire/weapon bash, to fire the other implement,

which can be a plasma-caster, a grenade launcher, or a shorty-shotty.

you can then quick-change affix bayonet, to be a Rip-Shiv or Ripper instead.

 

for example, the junk-jet/"Maximum Armor" inspired mod which allows you to have a ballistic-spork launcher/dart-launcher...

that is PERFECT for a lot of situations. that useless cutlery junk is suddenly useful.

 

it needs some tweaking mods at the weapons workbench at present,

so, there's 'bolted on'/'picatinny'd" "gaffa'd" etc.

that then collides with the association node, so it looks proper.

and, ideally there'll be a restriction based on the class of the mod,

as it's presently possible to attach a chinalake to a snub-nosed revolver!

(the secondary launcher is bigger than the primary implement itself hehe).

Having used (and LOVED) this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/10613/* back in my FO3 days I just kinda assumed that such a thing was not really feasible in FO4 or it would have been done already.

 

I hope I'm wrong though because I'd sure love to see it.

 

*I used nifskope to remove the non-functional pieces of the weapon for my personal use such as the laser sight / flashlight and vertical grip but I'm just OCD like that.

Not totally on topic here but if you want a super quick way to edit weapon damage and bring your modded guns into alignment with what you think is balanced check out this amazing 3 minute vid that was literally the spark for modding for me:
