Zathmo
Hey everyone! I have been pretty involved in modding Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4, but now I am moving to a new frontier. I just started modding Fallout 3 for the first time, and it is definitely the most unstable Bethesda game I have attempted to mod. So, dear Fallout 3 mod community, what tips, suggestions and recommendations do you have to someone who is modding Fallout 3 for their first time? Any cool mod recommendations, stability mods, modding tips and tricks to help me save a lot of headaches? Fallout 3 is new territory for me so I will take any information you guys can throw at me to help me out! Thanks guys! WastelandAssassin
well , since you already have New Vegas , and know what you are doing with it , I would recommend you get Tale Of Two Wastelands , and just play Fallout 3 through New Vegas' engineyou could even play both stories with the same characteralso , since New Vegas has more advanced mods and more options to use , I think it will deliver a more satisfying gaming experience that way
M48A5
First and foremost, do not use LOOT to sort your load list. It has never sorted Fallout 3 mods correctly. Do not install the game to the default location (Program Files), instead install it either directly to the hard drive or in the My Games folder. You should get, Updated Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch, https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/19122 FOSE http://fose.silverlock.org/ Large Address Aware Enabler for FO3 https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/6510 Fallout Stutter Remover https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/8886 New Vegas Anti Crash https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/53635 NMC Texture Pack https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/12056 DC Moods https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/19191 DC Delight https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/16892 Beware of Girl Type 3 Hirez Hidetailed Texture Replacer https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/13241 There are multiple armor texture replacers available for FO3 and FNV. The New Vegas texture replacers will work in FO3 if you manually install them. I use a combination of textures from both games. And this article https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/652876-fallout-3-modding-and-you/ Before adding something like A Tale for Two Wastelands, you will need to get a rock solid stable game. uhmattbravo
@M48A5 Wait, are you saying NVAC works in Fallout 3?
M48A5
@M48A5 Wait, are you saying NVAC works in Fallout 3? No, the mod author says it works for Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, the no gore versions of both, Oblivion, FNV/FO3 GECK and Oblivion Construction Kit. I can attest to Fallout 3. The instructions say it is an NVSE plugin. You just have to insert the correct script extender name in the installation instructions.
uhmattbravo
Wow. I never noticed. I just tried it out on Oblivion and so far so good. My son got into playing it a while back, and getting me all nostalgic, but kept crashing on the computer I put it on for me to play no matter what I did, to the point i'd given up on it. Like I said though, so far it seems promising. Thank you.

Iâve been having issues with stability recently so these mods should help. I tried TTW a little while ago and decided to mod them separately so I could mod them both to their full potentials. I always felt like there was so much more to do in the Mojave because of all the mods I had going on over there, and a didnât want to spend as much time in the Capital Wasteland so I decided to leave the games separate. Iâve used LOOT a lot on New Vegas and used it a few times on F3 so far. Should I just restart my modding process then? Iâm already experiencing crashes with FWE and a few other small mods. M48A5
LOOT does not, and never has, sorted Fallout 3 mods correctly. The lucky people who used it were able to launch the game. Usually, there is a failure to launch since the load list is not in the correct order. From what I have read here on the Nexus, LOOT does sort Fallout: New Vegas and newer games correctly. It completely fails for Fallout 3. A lot of the larger mods (FWE is one) have a sample load order on the description page. This is what should be followed since it was posted by the mod author. The best tool to sort Fallout 3 mods is still B.O.S.S. and can be found here: https://github.com/boss-developers/boss/releases/tag/v2.3.2 Since the developers are not updating the master list any longer, you will have to sort some mods by hand.
