[WIP] True Lichdom - Nexus Thread # 1

This mod looks like it will easily be my favorite, ever. Perhaps you could update the necromancy system a bit? I find it to be incredibly lacking, and honestly just a bad version of conjuration. I feel like improving on it a bit would be a good thing to do after the main mod is released. :) The only other thing I can think of is if your body will look lichey enough. I understand the Phylactery Lich (An amazingly interesting twist on a well used concept, I must say,) wouldn't really ever look decayed, and perhaps not the Vampiric Lich, but the True Lich most certainly would. I'm not sure if you could actually make it relate to the amount of time one was a lich, but it would be amazing if possible. All in all, this looks to be my favorite thing to add into Skyrim, EVER! :D

question if you are a member of the collage and then become a lich will they accept you as there way of thinking is if it does not hurt us we dont care??

I would think so. If those college mages tolerate necromancy then why not voluntary necromancy on someones own body?

Think of the D&D series (not sure if you read any of those books) like 'the pirate king' from Salvatore or the 'unclean, unholy, undead' series (I haven't read these yet, but I intend to do so). Almost everybody of the city knows the archmage is a lich trough rumors, though nobody is sure. They are afraid of the lich so they don't try to kill him. The highest ranking wizards, the ones who know for sure of the archmages' true identity are so woven into magic that they don't even care, and are even jaleous.

I think this would be the same in winterhold. The townspeople would be to afraid to interrupt, the jarl acts big and mighty, but is just a puppet of the archmage, the lowlevel mages wouldn't see the archmage and the higher ones do not care. This might be too realistic however. The college consists of around ten mages, with an equal number of townspeople... There wouldn't be too much for the lich to 'rule with fear' :(. It would be nice to have a mod that could allow you to rule a city in many ways, select 'puppet rulers' and so forth. But that would require too much scripting. I would settle for a mod wich makes the archmage a real archmage instead, really ruling the college. Or to allow you TO DO SOME OF THE EXPERIMENTS they keep whining about...

ow, I am trailing off. Back to the question, I do think they will ignore you. Why would they not? their minds are not clouded with (sometimes true) prejuces.

Well it sure would be funny getting to apply to the college as a lich and tolfdir teaching you about wards.

Lol, yes. I am not sure how a goodly mage such as Tolfdir would react to a lich though. The headmasters have as good as no relations with each other, both in lore as in-game.

I would just like to say this. I have Skyrim, but for the Xbox 360. I can not wait until this mod is released. That is how amazingly fantastic- nay, bodacious, this mod is. By the way, if nothing else, could you add the same glowy blue effect that zombies and thralls have to the liches? That way you at least get a small indication that you are undead.

Plus, do you have an animator? I can not remember. Will there be new spell animations, or staff animations? I only say this because I remember a mod for Oblivion (Which I do have) where the animations for the staves were replaced by the lich ones, so you floated everywhere and did these awesome spell and staff attacks. That would be fantastic. Though, I understand that you are probably focusing on getting the main stuff done before prettying it up, if you ever do get round to it. Thanks for reading.

I would say after, because Dawnguard will be released in 1 or 2 weeks.

Great mod! I like it! Thanks for the link!

  • 2 weeks later...

Have to say. Just started getting interested into modding and have been wanting to make a lich mod for even longer. That's when I went searching the internet for existing Skyrim Lich mods. You guys beat me to the punch!! But kudos to the mod so far in it's making. You've come up with ideas and concepts I would never have dreamed of!! Very Cool!!

I personally was thinking of making a lich mod with a quest line link with different groups of people, from a cult of necromancers seeking immortality, the dragon cult of old seeking an emissary or modern day Vanguard (maybe even have it where you go back in time like you do with the wooden mask script effect), and (depending when Dawnguard is released for PC), the ideal masters of the Soul Cairn with which you make a deal with for power in exchange for a steady stream of souls as payment. And depending on who you pledge yourself to you would be given a different form of lichdom.

But whatever, any idea isn't to be owned by one individual.

That aside I hope to see the day this mod is finished. It will be definetly be the first mod I try out and would probably easily be my favorite!!

Keep up the good work ;)

That is a great idea, but I think it is better reversed. You already become a lich, but you do something for these mysterious 'ideal masters' (maybe give them a foothold in Nirn), and they provide a steady stream of souls for you Edited by oblivionhot
