Three points of contention ...

Logging off and surfing the Nexus forums and downloading Mods ... has been a problem for a long time ... please help ... this has been going on for ages now ...

1) Logging off ... 9 times out of 10 (yes that much, I'm not exaggerating), when I want to log off, I am unable to, I keep getting ERROR 2000 - "You are not allowed to visit this forum" -

well I don't want to visit a forum, I want to log off.

So after a lot of trial and error I've finally found a way and here it is ... IN ORDER TO SUCCESSFULLY LOG OFF ... I feel that I have to "fool" the system ... I have to bounce

around like a tennis ball;

a) first, I click on Members, then when that page opens

b) I click on MORE to get the drop down menu and then choose any site listed there, then after that opens,

c) I choose FORUMS and then I click LOG OFF and then I'm successful.

If I leave out any of these steps, I get error 2000 and am unable to log off, even if I choose refresh, it does not let me log off ... Frustration, frustration, frustration.

2) Surfing Nexus ... I can only open 3 to 5 diifferent pages and then Nexus "locks" on me and gives me ERROR 2000 ... I have to do a "refresh" by clicking on the Nexus Icon I

have on my Favorites Bar ... this refreshes the page on Nexus BUT ONLY for the next 3 to 5 pages ... then it goes back to "ERROR 2000" and locks up on me again.

3) Downloading a Mod ... In order for me to download a mod, I have to do the following steps ... as it doesnt begin the download immediately ... first I click on download

(manually), then it gives me the dialogue about protecting my computer blah blah blah ... so I click on it and if the file is big it will take me to a server ... but whether it is big

or not, THE FOLLOWING ALWAYS HAPPENS;

I click on "download the file" and then it just goes back to the mod page and it looks normal, with no downloading action being evident ... now I can leave it and wait for the file

to download but IT TAKES AGES ... way over an hour or more - to even download a file of no more than 7kb - no jokes.

Yet again, I have found a way around this ... SO TO FIX THIS PROBLEM ...

a) I GO BACK to the download option on the mod page and choose the file again, then choose download again a second time - in case of a big file it takes me to the servers

I choose the same server as the last time so I click on it ...

b) now this gives me the option to to "save as" and then when I click on this, it shows downloading activity and the mod begins downloading immediately.

So, to download a file I have to "download it twice" before it downloads.

P.s ... If I choose the option to download with the NMM, the following happens ...

Example, i've just tried downloading "Jaysus Swords" mod with NMM, it does not download ... I've had to revert to the "normal" way I download mods.

With "SkyUI 2.2" I also could not download directly with NMM ... NMM told me it could not download the file, I had to do it manually and then activate it with NMM.

I'm running windows 7 64 bit with Internet Explorer 8 ... compatibility mode is off.

On a positive note ... NMM is brilliant when it comes to letting me know that a newer version of a mod I have installed, is out ... this makes a huge difference ... I double click on the New version number on NMM and it goes directly to the page, I download it with ONE click then go to the folder where it downloaded choose it with NMM and it updates, brilliant.

Any help with the above 3 hassles will be appreciated ... thank you very much :thumbsup:

Maybe this is something simple ... like a new web browser ... I don't know.

Sounds so familiar......

I don't think the Nexus likes any of the IE series. At least you can log on - I rarely could with IE 8 or 9. It just cycled back to the log-in. If I did get logged in, going anywhere was near impossible and most of the features buttons didn't work. Could not download anything over 1 meg either - it just failed. Trying to get to the forums was impossible, I never did get logged in there, the page just kept timing out.

Changed to FireFox and have not had a problem since.

I think that if any of the mods reply here they will probably tell you that the Nexus works best with FireFox or Chrome and IE is problematic.

Well I do have to say that I use Internet Explorer 8 exclusively and I never have any of the problems posted here except for #3 which I only get with Fallout 3 since the page was redesigned.

I've been using IE exclusively for years. (I do have FF, currently v10.0.3, and use it to test things on occasion.)

Started on the Nexus with IE8, then switched to IE9 almost as soon as it was available. And am usiing IE9 "mobile" on my Windows Phone 7 smartphone. Find that the "Game Sites" perform well with IE9 default settings, but the forums behave better in "compatibility mode".

Certainly don't have any of the problems described in by OP. :ermm:
