Cmac's pinned thread in spoilers

For anyone who may have missed the updates, the thread lists briefly the contents and purpose (or not) of 23 Dwemer ruins, 40 Daedric sites, 88 ancestral tombs, 11 wizard towers, 92 caves, 11 Dunmer strongholds, 10 grottoes, 19 shipwrecks and 43 mines. It indicates if they are used in any quest, so you can check BEFORE you kill everyone on sight, on site. By and large aplha order applies. He has asked you to PM him with any errors or omissions. I have locked the thread but if people want to congratulate him (or worse) you can add to this thread.

All I can say is - phew!

I hope everyone will use it when they have questions about these sites and also to discover just how much they might have missed.

(For those interested in numbers, there are 51 isolated individuals, most of whom have quests attached and 48 camps/outlaw Ashanders most of which don't. These are not relevant to cmac's thread but are more things to look out for.)

Not usually a problem if they attack you. As long as you don't assume that everyone in the shrine/dunmer stronghold etc. is a baddie. IIRC the only character who attacks you you need to avoid killing is the master trainer of Enchantment in Indoranyon.

There's also the master trainer for axe who is in another one of the dummer cities (don't remember which) who I think has atacked me in the past unprovoked.

On the other hand, I don't think of master trainers as being nearly as important as someone who's needed to complete a quest. convenient to have them around but not really a necessity since the Morrowind leveling system doesn't make it exponentially more diifcult to raise a skill as you get to higher levels.

Falensarano for the axe man. He's never attacked me but that's not saying he doesn't do it at all!

I agree with the comment about quest characters. However they rarely attack, and if they do, it is usually still possible to finish the quest. The danger is that in shrines and most ruins you assume they are going to attack you. The first time I visited Mount Kand I killed the atronachs 'knowing' that atronachs always attacked.

Also if you clean out a dwemer ruin for example and collect and dispose of the loot, you sometimes cannot remember where you sold it when you suddenly discover you needed the book/plan/tube or whatever.

I actually went out and bought the official strategy guide because I was sick of worrying whether the cave/ruin I was exploring was needed for a quest. Unfortunately the official strategy guide, like all official strategy guides, is totally innacurate (when will I learn this?).

The Cmac list is almost exactly what I needed, although it contains too many spoilers for my liking. The sort of list I wanted was one where it gives you the name of the location and whether the location was used for a quest, including the name of the faction giving the quest (so that you can explore anyway if you do not belong to the faction).

Even better would be a program or Excel spreadsheet where you select the factions that you belong to and it gives you a list of locations that you can safely explore. That way you wouldn't even get the partial-spoiler of knowing which faction would send you there.

Of course, I could take Cmac's list and tidy it up myself, but I really don't want to risk seeing the spoilers. I've seen a lot of this game but what keeps me playing is wondering where to find all the stuff that I haven't seen.
