lethalshark
Recently I've been trying to mod Special Edition, and its really just been a hassle. Using SEPTIM Guide I've been following it and many things just don't work as well as they do in Oldrim. For example NPC face enhancing mods are just not as good, as well as Ultimate HD Fire Effects just doesn't work after converting or leaving it the same, despite people claiming it does. I really like Special Edition's nice 60 fps ui and the ability to tab out among other things, and I'd love for it to work as it just feels smoother. However, Oldrim just seems superior in the final product when it comes down to appearance. PC Specs aren't a problem so when I'm limited so much by available mods it just doesn't seem worth. Does anyone have any input on this? Anything I may be doing wrong or just reassurance that this is the case? Thanks for anyone's reply
DMan1629
I'm not as veteran as other players in Skyrim, nor have I tried SSE, and I'm pretty new to the Elder Scrolls universe (Skyrim is the first one I tried ). But I can say just from reviewing what SSE offers compared to Oldrim, and I think the Skyrim Legendary Edition is far superior to SSE.Again, this is my own opinion, but it is also the opinion of a lot of other people I talked to - most of whom have played much more than me.Maybe it's a preference, maybe it's the nostalgic feeling, but not only. If you review SLE's mods just on The Nexus you'll see the sheer amount of mods that exist for it compared to SSE.Maybe you'd think is not a factor, but the fact is that it's actually the exact opposite - the is one of the biggest key factors to the difference. What I mean is this: you can download a few mods to make SLE like SSE, but those few mods will do a much better job at it than the special edition (which is quite funny...)The fact that you can turn Oldrim to SSE and have more than 5 times as many mods to it to choose from makes all the difference. Also making mods for Oldrim is a lot easier so if you ever want to make your own twist to it, you'll do it with no sweat - unlike SSE which lacks a lot of important mods/utilities like SkyUI and SKSE. If I had to choose, I'd stick to Oldrim no matter what. The decision is also easier because changing to SSE will require downloading SSE, searching the equivalent mods to it (which most of the times they don't even exist...) and ending up with a game that my computer might not be able to run... To sum it up - I choose the old arrow for this knee. Hope I helped!
Alerios
(I will don't speak a lot because I see pratically exactly like DMan.) For my part, I have switch to SSE (but I'm keeping my heavy-modded SLE) because of some "Big project mods" such as the "Beyond Skyrim Project" (where the full version will only be on SSE due to the 32 bits limits). I have the exact Skyrim that I had in SLE (I have the same mods in SSE and some that I have ported from SLE to SSE without converting them). I'm currently "waiting" (by this I mean, I don't play anymore Sky' until the release of a good quest mod). tristianbrooks
Until Skyrim: Special Edition gets the bugfixes, texture optimization, and of course all the sexy Serana and thin weapons mods, I would stick with the old Skyrim. There is just so much content that you have likely yet to explore, and it is so easy to experience it. I recommend checking out MXR's Skyrim Mods series, he showcases a couple mods every video for roughly 200 episodes now, and every single one is worth your time. But if you want a Skyrim that runs like trash, has no mods what so ever, and has just as much content as the old Skyrim, then go ahead and go for Special Edition. lethalshark
Thanks for all the responses guys, I'm switching back to Legendary Edition for now. Special edition is just missing a few too many things for me to really feel complete playing it. Really the only thing I'll miss is tabbing out
