Safe to remove mod that author removed?

I have been using a mod (Book of Console) and have the yellow icon on NMM that says there is updated version. Clicking redirects me to a totally different mod, and when searching I found that the author has removed this mod from nexus.

 

I am not experiencing any problems, but simply don't want a mod that is no longer on nexus and want to get rid of the yellow update icon on NMM.

 

Basically, my two questions are:

1) Is it safe to uninstall a mod that has been removed from the site without doing any harm to my saved games?

2) Does it matter where the books this mod added are if/when I uninstall?
