Stemin
I was having trouble with Skyrim, so I ran out and bought a new video card because I was fed up with looking for work arounds. I got home and installed the drivers and such and started playing Skyrim. The problem was fixed and it's awesome. I can run the game on high quality and it runs great. But then I got up this morning and wanted to throw Oblivion in and see if my issues there are fixed and realized I never put the skyrim disk in. The drive still had my NVidia DVD in it. So clearly the game installs to your hard drive and you're able to play. Does it EVER ask for the disk after the initial install? 'Cuz I'll just leave Oblivion in there and not have to switch back and forth and put more wear on the disk.
fms1
Yes your right, I would keep it for if you ever need to reinstall.
Stemin
Cool. Yeah, no. I wouldn't literally get rid of the disk. But I could put it in its case and put it away.
Tropxe
You can reinstall it from Steam, you don't need the disk at all. You can even make a back-up of the game on DVD from Steam.
bben46
Once installed and using Steam, the disk is no longer needed. Put it up in a safe place in case you need it for something later.
