dovahkin510
Hello !so...about a month ago, i started having troubles on my laptop, so after trying all the solutions i could think of, i decided to restore windows ( deleting everything in the process), now the laptop works just fine, and all my other games seem to work fine, but oblivion for some reason isn't, before i could play flawlessly with graphics maxed out at 60 fps ( i even used an enb), almost no drops (except in some heavy areas or modded areas ), now when i start the launcher it says that my recomended graphics are medium ( it used to say ultra high), and when i start in medium the game runs at 30 fps with drops, it also says i'm using a Geforce 9600gt ( that's total bs!, i'm using a gtx960m )why did this happen?is there a solution?... thanks in advance ( i'm spanish, sorry if my english makes little sense) Update (if anyone cares) : i decided to uninstall the game and reinstall it.... now it detects my videocard but it still puts the default graphics at medium and now it doesn't even open, it just starts and by the part the bethesda and zenimax logos come out a window appears " oblivion.exe has stopped working" Edited April 9, 2018 by dovahkin510
originaljgf
I would first reinstall the vid drivers. If that doesn't help, install the DX9 Redistributable from Microsoft (this is the last XP version of DX, many older games like it); this will not interfere with newer DX installs, it is just another library of Visual C++ functions. You may need other versions before Oblivion is happy, I have 2010 (DX9), 2012, 2013, and 2015 on my system (all available on the same Microsoft page). TheMastersSon
Both are good ideas imo. The retail DVD of Oblivion includes a folder (DXREDIST) with the DX9 installer (DXSETUP.EXE).
