metaphorset
Returning to the original topic - in reality it's extremely dangerous and stupid to place any technology in the hands of any single group. In the fictional universe of Fallout, the BOS are just a bunch of wankers. Raiders with advanced technology, a hypocritical codex and a bunch of nice lies on their lips. The original intentions might have been good at some point, but with power comes corruption. And the BOS are corrupt to the core.Fortunately they are doomed anyway, becausewith their overall "recruiting tactics" they are eventually going the way of the swampfolk in Point Lookout. And if there's one thing less desirable than lasers and fatmen in the hands of raiders, its lasers and fatmen in the hands of powerarmor-wearing inbreds - or Not-so-Supermutants. In this case they are literally becoming their own worst nightmare. they tend to piss off not only every major faction they come across but also every minor faction and every settlement - simply put, just everyone that isn't dazzled by their appearance and their big words or doesn't fit in their image of a "clean humanity" anyway. SirDanest
Will the brotherhood promise to divest themselves of the high technology as well? No? Well then, will they at least promise to be responsible with it, and not fall prey all the same hates, prejudices, and aggression of the people who they think are unworthy of technology? No again? sinlessorrow
To anyone thinking humanity shouldn't have technology - please give away all you have and move on to live in a hut. Some people do it as a lifestyle, others have to and the latter would rather not. And if you think *some* people can be appointed as heralds of tech and preservers of life, I ask thee - what makes them special? What guarantee you have they have or will have your good in mind? Why are you so lacking in hope that you think society should give technology up instead of progressing and advancing, just like any surviving species would?  So yea, BoS is not right - they're a bunch of semi-religious techno-nuts.The Boss doesn't take all technology, just WMDs, things like nukes, the instute, liberty prime, etc. They're not out in the Commonwealth rounding up all the laser muskets and power armor. They don't care about that stuff.
sinlessorrow
Trust in anything other than yourself, is a bad tactical choice, In the game or in real life, and 3rd. gen Synths are not bots. They are cyborgs, just like any human with a pacemaker or hearing aid. The Institute is only driven by logic, nothing more. Same psychology as any animal, no emotion, no remorse, no guilt. Only survival. That's probably the dumbest things I've read all month.....but it's still early. MrNeedles
Disappointed in humanity? I feel you, mate. But instead of trying to change it, why not just .... *drumroll* .... redefine it?
Ethreon
The only reason BoS doesn't have all the tech is cause some people punched them in the nose when they tried to take it. Not because they don't care.
Moksha8088
Try better bait, might catch some quality fish. Unfortinatly i am not trolling.Just watch the news. In that case, it might be good if the Brotherhood built a wall around the Commonwealth and have the Glowing Sea pay for it.
pgir001
The newly established local militia are starting to get a handle on the Commonwealth and the BOS shows up on their front doorstep in full force ready to impose their military might to force their values (right or wrong) on the citizens of the Commonwealth, as well as exploiting the land any technology they find, keeping it for themselves. BOS has no interest in attempting to ally with what should be the closest thing to the local military or sharing their stolen technology with anyone else. The word I use is "Invasion". BOS is KOS in my game. But this is typical of Bethesda's factions. I had this same conversation about Skyrim's Empire vs Stormcloaks. Bethesda creates factions. And the same arguments were made there. All factions are always seriously flawed. This is by design. They all tend to use the right words, but their actions do not line up with the words they use. In Skyrim, both factions were terribly bad for the future of Skyrim. It's the same in The Commonwealth. I mentioned my issue with BOS. The Institute is only interested in the advancement of science, not humanity. You can't advance or preserve humanity by committing atrocities against it. And as for "Father", At some point he should have gained enough influence to at least check on his mother and father in the Vault. She was shot and immediately frozen......was she really dead? Could she be saved from her injuries? Not like he ever bothered to find out. Plus he left both for dead in the Vault. As far as I am concerned, "My son" died with his mother. It's because he's "Institute" through and through. RR is helping Synths secretly integrate into the population. Not sure I see that as harmless. The MM probably have the most legit claim to the Commonwealth, but as the Sole Survivor, I do find it irritating that I was given the title of "General" without knowing that it really meant "General Errand Boy" "Go clear out a settlement while I sit here in this already heavily fortified, well defended, fully established, comfortable settlement and listen for word of your deeds." (Now I see why you went from 20 to 5) At the end of the day, the player must choose the faction that he or she sees as the lesser of evils. Vanguardascendant
Late to the game here in responding. Instead of rehashing thoughts on the existing factions, I'll just add that I miss the more morally-ambiguous (but more realistic) choices from Fallout New Vegas at the end of the game. Each of the factions you should choose should come with better pros and cons (yeah, even the Institute) to make the choice a little harder for the player. Lastly, but a big one here, I really miss the option to basically just choose yourself as a faction (like the Yes Man option in FNV). We need a "You do you!" option :)
