Zacktastica
I will start off by saying that my computer is a gaming computer and well beyond compatibility requirements. I have had no problems until now. I started playing Skyrim on my PC in January. I had about 4 months of saved game progress, Level 42, almost all stats filled. Game was pretty modded for terrain, water, character enhancements, etc... Up until recently everything was fine. I used NMM for any mods, and always launch through the Skyrim icon on my desktop. I rarely launch through Steam or NMM. I had about 167 saves in one file without any issues. After doing ONE update on NMM, all my mods have vanished, no files, no history nothing. When I started up Skyrim to confirm everything was ok, I noticed only NEW GAME, CREDITS were available. The LOAD option was greyed out. I went into my "Save Games" file in Documents and there was nothing. No history, no previous versions, nothing. I have somehow lost all my information and cannot restore it!! Do I have to start all over again??? I tried re-installing/downloading all my mods last night to see if it would trigger my old saves, but it didn't even run the mods or pull in any saves. On top of that, I do not have the in-game option to Save anymore. It's there but does not let me Save during the game. I like to save at the character creation scene then create a second new save, so if I ever want to start a new one, I don't have to sit through the intro again. I am beyond myself with solutions. Anyone else experience this or am I the only lucky one!? Suggestions? Solutions? -Zack
Ogden
I would try contacting Bethesda Technical Support. Your game should be saved in the "Cloud" at least. Maybe they can direct you to recover it there. Very unfortunate situation for sure. I hope if works out for you.
thompsonar
I believe if you have the cloud sync enabled on steam it has backups of your saves. If however you disabled it, or if it has updated since you lost all your saves it too may have deleted them. I'm not sure why you would lose so many files so suddenly. Have you done a search of your entire computer to see if the files have been moved to another location somehow? You could also try a program that scans for and restores recently deleted files. I don't know of one off the top of my head but I'm sure you can find a freeware one somewhere out there. The fact that you can't save anymore is odd as well. Are you logged in to windows as the administrator (and running the game as such) or could you have accidentally modified the permissions on the game saves folder or your user account? I don't see how the game would have deleted all your saves and mods, sounds more like a windows thing to me. Those are my thoughts they may be way off, but hopefully gives you a starting point. I am by no means an expert on this stuff.
