Tales of Faerun

Caladus beamed at Rhaine, happy that she liked his gift. He whistled slightly between his teeth and went to his bag, retrieving his mask. He tied it on and retrieved the silver scepter. Hmm.. He thought to himself. He went to the window, opened it and saw a small, unused yard. He holds out a hand, palm flat, curls his fingers, and raises his hand. The earth churns, and a large cedar tree springs up, growing higher and higher, spreading the scent across the city. He waves a hand, halting the growth, and asks for a branch. He receives a thick limb, which he molds using magic into an ornate cane, with a hollow for the scepter. Placing the scepter into the hole he made, he caused wood to shape over top of it, binding the silver into place.

"Does this go well?" He smiles at Rhaine. He wondered what her favorite type of tree was.

Byron was watching his friends from the afterlife, when Dugmaren approaches him. He was wearing brown finery, and wearing a mask that had a magnification lens in it.

"Come along, Byron. We are going to that ball! I don't think I have been to a good party in ages!" Dugmaren says, grabbing Byron and dragging him off towards his chariot, a metal contraption that used gears and fire to move rather than horses. He powers it up, winding springs and adding coal, then the carriage churns its way out of the afterlife, appearing along the road heading to Arabel.

Saerileth finishes getting the dress on with her mother's help, and slipped into the flats that she herself had picked to go with it, accessorizing with the cloak Rhaine had given her, and the gloves Nawen had given her. She slid her ring on over her finger, put the necklace from Tyra and Shaori on her neck, and straightened her crown. She heard a clunk, and finds a present she never got around to opening, Caladus's. She opens the box, and finds a stunning white mask, with an amethyst in the center. She puts it on, and ties it around the back of her head. She felt amazing. She takes a small vial of lip paint that she had got from a shop selling make-up, and painted her lips red, doing as the lady said, painting only one lip, and pressing her lips together to make it even. She smiles, lips painted, skin pale and smooth, and all dressed up for the ball.

Rhaine had turned back towards the mirror, but she saw the druid's handiwork in the reflection, "Quite nicely."

She combed through her hair and began styling it. She had thought about leaving it down, but the Doomguide ultimately decided to do something different. With her hairpins, she pulled it into an elegant twist at the back of her head, using Caladus's rose clip to hold it in place. After spending a few minutes looking it over, she tugged at a few loose strands on either side of the twist, just behind her pointed ears. Twirling the strands around her fingers, she created a couple of blood-red ribbons that curled just above her creamy shoulders.

With that, she began applying her cosmetics. Nawen was right in that most of it wouldn't show, but she wanted to emphasize her eyes and mouth. She darkened her eyelids and lengthened her lashes, then painted her already ruby lips to a deep wine color. Satisfied, she took her Mask of Persuasion and donned it, tucking the headband behind her scarlet twist. Rhaine fluffed the feathers out over the top of her head and finally pulled on her black gloves.

Checking herself over one last time, she turned to the druid, "So, what do you think?"

Nawen listened to everything that Radik told her. An alliance between the clans sounds like an excellent idea! One day the Mithrilaxe clan will run out of mithril and ever since they found massive amount of ore it was their main material for both armor and weapons. Unfortunately this can't be done only with letters, dwarves are in their very nature distrustful of strangers after all and the Mithrilaxe clanhold was just so far away, in Icewind Dale. Not to mention that her foster father while he was very important and valued in the clan he wasn't a founder of the clan or the head of the clan. The only thing she could do was to suggest this.

"An alliance would benefit both clans greatly." She spoke and glanced at the dwarf. "Unfortunately the only thing I can do is to send a letter to the clanhold and tell them about this." The ranger added. She didn't understand what Radik meant by 'giving Byron an honorable death' so she said nothing about it.

"Aye lass, tha' may be the case. However, it's been awhile since Ah went home. There be a dwarf tunnel entrance near here. It goes to the transport tracks. Ye know of the dwarf transports, aye? Well, Ah can take that tae mah family's home. Then from there, they take a transport north east. A messenger can be in Icewind Dale within 2 to 3 weeks. Ah'll take care of the details.... LOOK OUT!" He threw himself at Nawen as with a rattling and churning, a bronze chariot with no horses clattered past, then made a sharp reverse turn and went back towards the roads leading to the palace.

"Tha' was close. Ah coulda sworn I saw me brother on that carriage. Odd, Anyhoo, let me know after the ball whether or not ye would like tae see the dwarf transport tracks. A transport looks kinda like that carriage did, but a darker metal and with a lantern at the front hanging in front of a curved mirror. Later!" He rushed off to his shop to prepare for his trip.

Caladus had ducked behind his partition to hunt through his bag for his best pipe, an unbreakable black glass-like substance with the crest of house DeVir in Silver stamped upon the bowl. He returned with his pipe-herbs and his fancy pipe, and his jaw dropped slightly when he looked at Rhaine. He could tell all that she had done with the make-up due to his keen eyes, but most people would only notice what she chose to bring into contrast, her lips and her eyes. Putting back on the "mask" he used to hide his true thoughts, he cleared his throat slightly and composed himself.

"You look absolutely beautiful. You are going to knock 'em dead. Would you allow me to escort you to the ball? Or would you rather walk yourself?"

"Is it me or everything is just way too easy?" Nawen thought to herself and watched Radik as he walked back to his store. "No. It can't be this easy." She mumbled under her breath and made her way back to the tavern. Unfortunately she has a ball to attend to.

Once in her room the drow placed everything she bought neatly on the bed. Sinn was still sleeping underneath it and Illius was nowhere to be seen. Sighing heavily she took off her casual clothing and put the white dress on. It was really difficult to put it on properly because she never wore a dress but eventually she succeeded without ripping the dress apart. She was still wearing her leather boots but luckily the dress was long and hid them and the material wasn't see-through either.

The ranger then brushed her hair, grabbed the mask and stared at herself in the mirror that was in the room. "Ridiculous." She mumbled and looked away. She also remembered that scroll she was given that changed ones appearance. She took it from her bag and went to the common room to look for Xallistine.

Rhaine blushed, and then joked, "I certainly hope I don't, or I'll have to resurrect them all."

Dabbing her pulse points with rose-scented perfume, she added, "I think Shaori might object to you escorting me. Perhaps it is best if I walk alone."

The Doomguide then placed one hand on her hip, "Now then, are we ready?"

Ravenna's eyes widened "Oh dear me... a circus theme?" She sighed, and put her head into her hands "Then black won't do... perhaps i should have a change from black eh? Now let's see.." She said, getting up from the dresser, and walking over to all of the dresses hung in the wardrobe, she searched through them, remarking with a "No" at every one she passed, until she stopped at a beautiful gold dress, it was ornate, strapless, and made of a sheer material "Perfect." She said, taking it, and hanging it at the front of the wardrobe. She searched back through her jewellery bag, and picked out a pair of heavy, solid gold earrings. She sat back down at the dresser, and cast a spell, it caused her hair to shorten itself. She put it into a beautiful updo at the back of her head. She then started on her makeup, and created a look that was such a contrast to her usual darkness. using light tones, and slight golden eyeshadow, she put on her eye liner, and enhanced her eyelashes. picking each eyelash apart from eachother, to make sure they had a refined, fanned out look. She slipped herself out of her black fur gown, and walked over to the wardrobe, she took the dress and got herself into it, fastening it up. She then set about finding a pair of ornate golden heels, she slipped them on, and they were of a considerable height, making Ravenna, who was already 5'11, stand almost a head taller. She hooked on her earrings, and slipped on her ring. "Well, how do i look?" She said to Lacey with a smile.

Adelaide's eyes welled up with a few tears "Oh you do look like a princess! Simply stunning!" She said with a smile, admiring her own good choice of clothing "What would you do without my taste's eh?"

----------------------

Aricia also got ready for the ball, putting on her white gown, which had a short skirt at the front, which showed off her legs, and a long train around the back and sides. Her cleavage was also on show in the low cut gown. She washed her hair with a little magic, and then she curled it neatly, in a beautiful wavy do, over her left shoulder. She put on her crimson red lipstick, and darkened her eyes, powdering her snow-white face. She slipped into her white heels, and then took her ornate diamond mask from it's case, to go with the diamond jewellery she always wore. She put it on her face, and fastened it at the back "Ready to go my dove?"

Xallistine looked up from his book, as Nawen walked down the stairs, he admired how stunning she looked in white, itr really contrasted with her beautiful dark skin "My my Lady Nawen, you look simply stunning! Although i can tell you are not comfortable... glad i am not going, could you imagine an Illithid at the party?" He said with a chuckle... having no idea of the scroll Nawen possessed.

"She told me she was going to escort her sister, since Tyra has no date of her own. I could escort the three of you, but then there would be major crowding. This is why I offered." He blinked slowly at her.

"Now, Shaori said she would meet me on the road with her sister, so as not to be questioned at the gates. However, 3 people with wings and a Drow or two will certainly make an interesting entrance. Shall we go? I have my formal pipe, a cane with a scepter of persuasiveness in it, and am ready to go."

Saerileth smiled, and held her mother's hand, ready to go to this ball.

Tyra and Shaori walked together, all dressed up towards the gate of the castle. They waited about half way for Rhaine and Caladus to catch them up.

Radik grumbled in his shop about the noise of the party and put the kettle on.

"I... thank you." She said and blushed slightly and almost tripped over something. Walking in a dress was a true nightmare! Xallistine was right about her being uncomfortable part. She walked up closer to him and extended a scroll. "Now you can go to." She said and smirked. "This scroll can change ones appearance. One of Shaori's relatives gave it to me." The ranger explained and looked around to see if others were ready.

The Doomguide nodded, "Yes. Let us see who else is ready."

With that, she left the room and began descending the staircase. Once again she was thankful for the low heels. She had trouble enough seeing her own feet past the skirt. Once in the common room, she saw Nawen and Xallistine speaking. The drow looked positively striking, with her snow white gown against her obsidian skin. Even though the dress seemed relatively simple in design, it suited her well. It drew the viewer's focus to her natural beauty.

Rhaine grinned, "Nawen, you look beautiful...and don't you think otherwise for one minute."
