Anemone was enjoying the wind on the cutwater of the ship when the announcement of the attack reached her, the genasi grabbing her daggers as she ran towards the fight. Gods, she sure was fighting a lot in the last few days. Avira flew next to the woman as she ran, but decided not to engage into the battle - the raven was grumpy enough without trying not to get shot, stabbed or decapitated.

A few of the pirates jumped in front of the genasi, cutting her off of the main battle. She stopped running and looked at the three men, tilting her head a bit.

"You know, one thing about being on a ship is that I don't have to kill you - you can just go for a little swim." the woman said cheerly, truly disliking killling.

"Now you see me - now you don't." she added with a chuckle, disappearing in the shadows as she left the men wodering where she was. It was just seconds before one of them was already flying off of the ship and into the water with a shriek, the two other trying to do the same to the blue-haired woman who had pushed their mate.

The genasi disarmed one in the next few seconds, hitting the back of his head with her hilt to knock him out, watching the man fall down on the floor.

"...ouch. That had to hurt."

As the enemy vessel approached Tannin had a mad grin on his face. "What's I tell ya!? Something was gonna happen!" He yelled as he ducked, a bolt passing right over his head. A pirate was already bring his weapon down to strike at him before Blackrazor literally leaped into Tannin's hand. Spinning on his feet Tannin let the blade do all the work, it extending like a chain around his would be attacker and slicing clean through his useless armor.

--------

Azuris had taken cover behind the stairs leading up to the wheel. Tannin's words earlier had made him uncomfortable and just to be on the safe side he had assembled his crossbow and had a quiver of bolts on him just in case an event such as this happened. Crouching down he peaked out behind cover to fire a bolt at the enemy ship and ducked back before they had a chance to respond with their own projectiles, and from the scream coming from their ship he had ruined someone day.

As the battle raged on Hexol stood by watching on with childlike wonder. "I've never been on a ship attacked by pirates before!" He squeaked excitedly, literally bouncing with energy.

With her cutlass, Shalena slashed one of the ship's crewman's stomach when he got in her way. She was searching for the captain of the ship but he or she was nowhere to be seen. Shalena was rather concerned about these armed passengers who seemed quite formidable and she knew that her own crew were not as good.

As she spun around Shalena saw a half-elven woman, who looked like her but more noble, charging at her. Even from afar she could somehow sense the strength and confidence coming from the winged half-elf. It was obvious that she wasn't the captain but nevertheless she was good enough for Shalena.

The pirate took a defensive stance, her cutlass at the ready.

====================================================

Meanwhile Nawen wasn't doing so great. She felt out of her element the entire journey and now when she was fighting it was showing. Twice she was close to falling into the deep waters and once she slipped on the blood but somehow managed to push one pirate off the ship.

Lyria managed to turn one of her sickles inward on the white wolf, stabbing him and pushing him off of her, but the wound was too deep...blood gushed out of her throat. She stood just in time to see Shalena collide with a winged woman not unlike her friend in appearance...

...before falling over the side of Umberlee's Wave to her death.

"Fenrir!" Conall shouted, dodging a crossbow bolt to get to his wounded companion. He desperately cast Lay on Hands in an attempt to keep his wolf friend alive. The captain and first mate lay nearby, both of them having taken shots to the chest, presumably from the first volley that had been launched at them.

Meanwhile, Rhaine had closed in on the half-elf pirate and swung overhand, Touch of Death colliding with her cutlass, sparks flying. She met the pirate captain's gaze with her own fiery green one, conveying wordlessly that the woman had made a very bad decision.

In true swashbuckler fashion Tannin had boarded the enemy ship. He had changed Balckrazor into a long chain that tied itself around the pirate ship mast and retracted it, pulling him on board the ship. With an enemy on board the bolt and arrow fire decreased in number as the pirates turned their attention towards the half drow who almost immediately regretted his decision as a barrage of projectiles flew his way, not all of which he was able to deflect or dodge.

Kowolj was attempting to enjoy the 'great weather" he had been told about, but the smell was bothering him greatly. He was feeling rather low when he saw the boat heading toward them with the very words that had gotten him on this boat in the first place resounding through his mind: Adventure. A toothy grin spread across his face, growing larger with each second the boat closed in. Finally his hopes were confirmed with the opening bolt shots fired from the pirates, marking the start of their ill-fated raid. After the first few pirates swung across Kowolj charged into the fray brandishing his shortswords, which looked somewhat rusty compared to the last time he had taken them out. A living machine of death, Kowolj killed whoever was unlucky enough to land in his vicinity. It was an extremely short amount of time before those on the pirate ship began targeting the giant wemic. Every shot served only to fuel his rage, but he could not bring himself to jump the gap between the ships or swing across, in fear that he may fall in. The bolt continued to pierce his flesh, ushering forth an agonized roar from Kowolj.

Othos woke to the sounds of battle, which served to hasten his return to consciousness. He looked down from the nest to see another boat alongside their own and both decks swarming with pirates. He could point out most of his companions, though his lookout ended when he spotted his new genasi companion, seemingly having just bested a few scummy pirates herself. Their were likely other more 'tactical' positions to drop to, but he really couldn't think of any other spot he'd rather end up. On the way down from the nest to the deck he created a blast of wind only strong enough to slow his descent before he landed on the wood. He drew he sword before he began to speak, "Just wanted to let you know that I'm right here next to you." He turned almost immediately after this while running his gold plated hands over his sword, creating electrical energy coating the blade. He clashed with a pirate, parrying he first few blows amid bursts of electrical discharge. The next two slashes were the product of all his years of training: the first slash coming down on the knee, with the ensuing shock causing the pirate to fall to one knee to set up the second slash, across the neck. Pirates really didn't stand a chance here...

Sefris chuckled at the situation, looking at her claws which were still covered in the lizard's blood. "Indeed, orc. Your troops seem to lack...fear." An army should be absolutely terrified of their leader and respect him fully. If it was her army...the wouldn't even dare look up while she passed by. Heh. 'Her' army. Now that would be an amusing sight.

---------------------------------------------------------

Anemone looked at the genasi that had jumped down next to her, smiling. She certainly was glad to meet another of her kind since it's been so long, and to meet one so friendly.

"I am glad, Othos." The genasi replied, watching him fight for a second.

The archers were a problem for the others, like Kowolj, who couldn't get across. In addition to that, it seemed one of her companions has already boarded the pirate ship and wasn't doing so well against such a large number of pirates.

"Avira!" the genasi threw her hat to the raven, the bird sitting down on it with an irritated caw! She then proceeded to grab a rope with a large hook one would use for catching really big fish, throwing it at the pirate ship after spinning it until it wrapped itself around the foremast, glancing at Othos for a second as she walked to the edge of the ship.

"I was told wind is amazing when you jump from one ship to the other." She said with a smile to Othos before jumping.

And so it was, making the woman yell with delight before she landed on the pirate ship, easing her landing in the similar way Othos did a bit earlier. She was immediately surrounded by a group of pirates, but the woman only smiled, pulling out her daggers again.

"Now....I spy with my little eye...pirates that are about to fall off of the ship." As they attacked, the genasi dodged or parried every one of them, since it was more of a dance for her than an actual fight.

"Oh my! Look at that!" she pointed at something up in the skies, and of course they all looked up, giving the woman needed distraction to disappear once more from the sight.

"Ye dolts! Get 'er!" One of the pirates yelled at the rest just a second before Ane pushed him in the water, much to the displeasure of the rest of the pirates who resumed their attacks.

Shalena wasn't affected by the Doomguide's fiery gaze but her blade compensated for that. Shalena relied more on dexterity rather that strength and she felt that the winged elf will soon overpower her. So rather than trying to hold off she quickly dashed to the side. The point of the Doomguide's blade brushed against her left arm, leaving a cut, she winced but it was nothing worth panicking about.

During this she noticed that some of the adventurers had boarded her ship and that the captain of the cargo vessel was already dead. "That's not good." She thought to herself as she looked around while she still had the chance. Lyria was nowhere to be seen and her men died or fell into the water too quickly. This fighting must be stopped. Their leader was too strong for her to handle and other adventurers were too far away for her to sneak up unnoticed but then she saw a man desperately trying to heal a white wolf. It was clear that the man was one of them and unlike others, he was too distracted with his beast being injured and all. "He will do nicely."

Using the sounds of the fighting and ranger's distraction to her advantage, Shalena sneaked up on him and stuck the blade to his throat. "Get up." She ordered the ranger. To the other adventurers she shouted. "Drop your weapons, or I'll kill your friend!"

Conall growled as he felt the steel against his throat, blue eyes flashing...a growl that nearly betrayed his true nature.

Rhaine saw that Conall was now in a very precarious position. That, coupled with Tannin and Ane's vulnerability and Fenrir's possible impending death, gave her pause. Even though the group outnumbered and would have normally outmatched the piratess's crew, they were stuck between a rock and a hard place. The captain and first mate of Umberlee's Wave were dead, and though the Doomguide had experience manning small boats as a young woman, she had no idea how to navigate a ship this large on her own. They were effectively dependent, now, on the crew of the Sea's Compass for survival.

Sighing, Rhaine sheathed Touch of Death and held up her hands, "Everyone, do as she says. Now."

As she watched the half-elven captain, she wondered what it was the pirate expected to find on board. She would likely be thoroughly surprised when all she saw in the hold was ale and horses...

"Good. I have your attention." She grinned, her weapon still pressed against Conall's neck. "I am Shalena Windsail, captain of the Sea's Compass and we are seizing this ship." She announced proudly despite of the not so grand start. The surviving members of her crew started cheering. The pirate returned her attention back to the adventurers.

"I will be merciful and allow you to live if you agree to behave yourselves and won't try anything stupid like trying to attack me or my men." She said. There were no emotion behind this statement. She used it many times before and now it felt like talking about moss growing on a stone. Usually her captives were acting foolishly and their refusal always meant being left stranded on a ship with limited or no supplies which always meant slow and at times painful death. But because their leader, the winged elf surrendered it was clear that at least she understood that surrender is the best option for them to survive.

"If not, you may continue to fight us and might even survive," she continued "but even if you did, it is clear that you don't know how to navigate a ship. At best you'd starve to death and at worst... well, it wouldn't be pretty."

Shalena looked back at her ship and saw that the men had prepared gangplanks for them to board a ship. Carefully she started moving towards one while still holding the ranger in case the adventurers are the stubborn kind and are thinking about fighting. "So, what say you? Are you willing to swallow your pride and surrender or are we going to fight to death?" She said once she stopped walking as she was close enough to one of the gangplanks.
