Tales of Faerun

Ianthe cheered as she saw a stone golem's fist soar down and smash the man before her. The golem's arm lifted, the man's body now forever altered into a mangled pile of splintered bones and wet flesh. A sharp clang rang out, and Ianthe's eyes flicked to the source of the noise. Rhaine lay against the far wall, dizzied, but otherwise seeming fine. She kept her eyes on the fight, though, in case Rhaine needed help.

As Hazel stood near Nawen and Illius, an idea occurred to and she fished through the pouch at her side. She punched a nearby vampire in the face and pulled out what she had been looking for, the ornate silver spoon that Byron had given her. Satisfied it would work as a mirror, she outstretched her arms and used it to repel the hissing creature, amused.

Shaori saw the Doomguide fall, and yelling furiously, charged the Necromancer who had knocked her down with her flail. The man tried to block with his staff, but the flail smashed the man's staff, and then his skull. Looking furious and terrifying, she charged the next necromancer she saw to take him down too. Her Cacofiend is finally overwhelmed and returns to the pit.

Caladus returns to human form now the vampires had been dealt with, and with a furious snarl on his face, he lopped the heads off three necromancers in rapid succession with his scimitars, and threw one of them through the back of the head of a necro who was running at Hazel. He nods at her, then sheathes his other scimitar and starts using his staff.

Byron has mustered enough energy to lift a few rocks, and starts dropping them on necromancer heads where he can.

They had whittled the number of necromancers down to six, but these mages had more tricks up their sleeves. They chanted as one, and a panel behind the altar of the nave retracted to reveal two Death Knights astride nightmares. These unholy warriors charged forth, scythes high - one heading for Illius and the other straight for Rhaine. The demonic horses lit the grout of the floor on fire with their flaming hooves, sparks flying as their feet struck the stone.

Rhaine readied her weapon, but she will still slightly woozy, and she swayed as she tried to focus on the infernal steed charging towards her. The scythe whistled as it came down in an overhanded arc. There was no way she could parry the blow, so she fell to her stomach, rolling sideways under the nightmare's hooves. She felt scorching heat as the flames of its fore-hocks brushed the back of her legs. The animal reared, and the Doomguide brought Touch of Death up into its belly.

Shaori saw the Death Knights, and saw one of the Nightmares get stabbed by Rhaine. She decided to help the Doomguide, and calling on Aerdrie Faenya, she heals and restores the Doomguide to full strength, and then gets away from the area, as she now needed time to rest.

Byron hears his gods talking in his head again. "Byron, we have the power to temporarily restore your physical form. This will only last until sunrise." Byron feels strange, and then all of a sudden has his old body back, in the same condition as it was before he sacrificed himself. He whips his hammer at the back of the Death Knight who attacked Rhaine, and shouts "VOLTAIR", which is both his battle cry and summoner of his hammer, and it flies back to his hand.

Caladus hears the scream, and nearly runs into a wall upon seeing his friend. He senses divine power at work, and hit the nearest necromancer in the face with his staff.

Hazel's eyes widened as a fiery horse charged past her, a skeleton with bits of meat clinging to its bones sat atop its back, holding the reins with one hand and wielding a large sword in the other. She unconsciously pressed herself to a wall as her eyes trained on the fire that raged from the horse's mane, tail, and feet. Her heartbeats seemed much harder and faster, her breaths shallow. She was afraid of this beast. Its fire would mean the end of her if it could get near enough.

Seeing Hazel cower in fear at the flaming horse ignited a spark of anger in Ianthe. She sheathed the scimitar in her right hand and charged toward the steed with a fierce cry, cloak billowing behind her like a banner of war. Turning, the horse stamped a foot on the ground, creating a spark on the tile beneath it. It seemed to be challenging her, as if it knew it could best her. She rushed straight for the horse's face and grabbed hold of its neck, ignoring the blistering heat and pain of the flames burning at her arms. As it bucked and reared, trying to throw her off, she held on with all her might before plunging her scimitar into its muscular shoulder. Finally, her arms gave way and she fell to the ground, somehow able to pull her scimitar down with her. She panted, tears streaming down her face at the pain of her blistered skin, stinging as they ran down her burned cheeks. Her arms shook violently, and she whimpered as the intense, incessant pain washed over her whole torso, but she would endure. She would forever endure. But her thoughts were not of that, nor of her injuries, for she had remembered the acid enchantment on her blades would slowly eat away at the horse's flesh until its leg muscles were no more.

Byron saw the flaming horse of a second death knight rush by him. How many of these things are there? He thinks in his head. He figures that Rhaine can handle the Death Knight he has done damage to, and takes a quick look around, notices Caladus battling the necromancers, and goes over to help.

Caladus managed to kill one of the necromancers. There were now 5 left. Two rushed him and he started fending them off. He sees Byron start fighting one of them, and takes heart that he wasn't battling 5 necromancers alone.

Shaori walked slowly away from all this, leaning heavily against the wall, not feeling too well.

Xallistine stepped to the side as a necromancer came for him, and he followed up by hitting the necromancer with some force using his largest tentacles, he then let off a powerful harm spell, ripping off the necromancers flesh, and then xallistine finished him off with a lightning bolt. 4 necromancers left.

The fighting just kept going and both Illius and Nawen wondered how long will this last. The sorcerer then had an idea. As he continued throwing spells at the enemies he looked around the room. Some stone golems were helping them as well.

Illius shoved his hand into one of his pocket and pulled a few small black beads. "Throw these at the enemies!" Illius shouted and started throwing the little beads to Nawen's friends. He glanced at one Bead of Force in his hand and threw it at the Death Knight which was at the safe distance from him. As soon as the bead hit the floor near the knight's feet it exploded and sent the enemy to the other side of the room with a few missing peaces in his body.

Byron catches the Bead of force, and shoves it into a necromancer's mouth. This causes him to bite down and have his head blow up. Two necromancers left, he then sees a death knight go past him, and throws his hammer into the thing's face. One down, one to go. The nightmare ran around wildly now that the death knight was destroyed.

Caladus smashed one necromancer in the face, killing him, then his staff gets knocked out of his hands. He pulls out a dagger and stabs the last necromancer in the face. Only one major enemy remaining, the other death knight.

Shaori has fallen to the floor exhausted, and can't get up.

Rhaine rolled again as the nightmare fell to the floor, seizing the Death Knight by the boot and jerking him off its back. Shaori's spell had restored her strength somewhat, and she was able to launch herself back to her feet, initiating a third Bond and decapitating the skeleton warrior in a flash of green flame.

She stood there, panting and dripping with sweat, her hair lank and wet. Her eyes still burned bright with the adrenaline of battle as she surveyed the room.

It was over.

Closing her eyes, she fell to her knees in thankful prayer.
