RoboTECH
Hello my friends. Until a month ago my PC was like this: .::Asus M4A78 Pro .::. Amd Phenom II 940 x4 @ 3.0 Ghz .::. Kingstone DDR2 2 GB x 2 .::. Hitachi Sata II 500 GB .::. Ati Radeon HD4850 DDR3 1GB::. Like that, Skyrim was running pretty fine with all settings in high, and I just used some mods (Not HD texture mods) then I upgrade my PC to be like this: Asus M5A99X EVO, AMD FX6100 x6 @ 3.3 Ghz, 8 GB DDR3, ATI HD 6870 DDR5 2GB Well, I upgrade my PC because i wanted to play in 1080p (I changed my screen as well) and the game runs awesome, even with the HD Textures, but as far I didnt like those rugged textures, i decided to play with the vanilla one (just some HD textures, like the sky) plus another change. I set the ugrid to load 7 and the game run like butter even with this. So, what's the problem? The game started to act "strange". Flying horses or animals, but the worst thing was... in some point my savegames stopped to work. Everytime i tried to load my game it load pretty well BUT the screen becomes black and all what i hear is the BG music. I tried to load another savegames but it was the same for all of them. So I am not sure if it's fault of the ugrid to load 7 or maybe because I installed the unofficial skyrim patch.
Norm1974
You could try to set UGrid back to 5 with old saved games and se if this helps. Or start a new game to see if you still have the same problems. If you didnt already tried that.

RoboTECH
Hello! Thanks for the replies! So, the game is only stable at ugrid 5 no matter the hardware? And this is the unofficial skyrim patch: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=
Norm1974
Haven't played around with Ugrid myself. But since 5 is the default for the game i thought that it was worth trying to see if it solves your problem. Here is an article about tweaking( thoe its mainly for people with nivida cards)Changing UGrid lover down on the page and how it effects gameplay and saves - http://www.geforce.com/Optimize/Guides/five-fast-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-tweaks-guaranteed-to-make-your-game-look-even-better/

pygothian
The ugrids and cells worked initially when skyrim was released. At one point I had a stable game at 9 and 100. Then with each subsequent patch noticed I've had to drop to 7 and 64 and now I'm at default on the latest patch with all my mods. Not sure what has been changed but I used to love having full high detail as far as the eye can see. Now I get crap suddenly pop into view as I get closer on my pretty high end rig. ProjectVRD
I am currently using uGrids=11 and it is very stable for me until I reach about 2GB (which is another issue lol), have you tried the HD texture fix that is available for download here on the Nexus? I can't find the link for the HD Texture fix, but here is another you might want to look at as well: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=19 Edited April 24, 2012 by ProjectVRD
nisen
the only way changing ugrids to load breaks savegames afaik is going from a higher back to lower setting, and even then theres a fix to allow it now: see the Faq section at the bottom here but doesnt sound like thats the problem if you never got the game to load anyway. Have you tried deleting the skyrimPrefs.ini and skyrim.ini to generate new ones, ruling out any of those settings as the cause.

I didnt lower the ugrid from 7 to 5 so it was not the reason for the break of my savegame. Actually, an automatic savegame (just outside of the sleeping giant) worked, and loading from there all the savegames worked, but again, when i go futher in the game and save again, at the moment of reload the game just turn black, (Not sure if i made my self clear, my english is not good enough)
