VERY interesting numbers, Worm!

Do you have, by any chance, the numbers for downloaded files?

Since I uploaded my first (and only) mod, I have been curious about some mod averages. I wonder if you or the site admins could produce them some day:

Average number of views per mod

Average number of downloads per mod

Average number of rates per mod

(just all time averages)

Well, these numbers were produced with a calculator and the advanced search. I could produce the stats that you ask for but I would have to calculate them manually and that would take forever, by the time I was done they would no longer be accurate.

Dark0ne probably has those stats at his beckon call but i doubt he is willing to share them with us. It would be cool if TES Nexus had a stat tracker that displayed the total number of downloads, views and ratings and then we could do the math ourselves by dividing the total number of files into them.

Uau, Man! That was a lot of work. Doubled thanks.

So, I redirect the request to Dark0ne or any Admin that have access to the raw data. The number of downloads is just curiosity, but the averages per mod would be useful.

The reasoning is that, as a first time modder, I am very frustrated with the number of rates I received, relative to the number of downloads (15 / 1000 = 1.5%). Although I am pleased and grateful for the good ratings and very positive comments, the quantity is just not enough to keep me motivated. Every time I open my mod in the CS, I have and uncontrollable urge to play solitaire and wish it was time to fill my tax return. My motivation is that low.

But the fact is that I don’t know if that 1.5% is good, bad or typical. I don’t know if 1000 downloads is a lot or too few.

If I knew the averages, it might well be that my numbers are not that bad and, this being the case, reverse my motivation to keep on modding.

Dude, I just checked out your mod and I have to say I'm very impressed. Take it from someone that consistently studies statistics in this community, a 1000+ downloads in 33 days is pretty good and when you get praise from modders like Umpa you must be doing something right. You want more ratings for motivation?...meh...If i made a mod like this and and a veritable f*****g legend it this community like Growlf gave it a 10, that would be all the motivation I could possibly need to continue to make this mod the most it could be. Keep in mind that a lot of people, no matter how cool the mod will wait until it's out of beta before they download and rate it. So don't loose heart man, your on a good path and well on your way to becoming a legend in your own right. Keep it up and don't concern yourself with numbers.

Thanks Worm.

The 1000+ is kind of misleading, as part of it is for the Beta and part for V1. But I am not concerned with the number of downloads, as my mod is meant for a limited ‘audience’.

Most of the ratings (13) were for the Beta, and that gave me the motivation to work on V1 and develop some of the tricky and ‘unusual’ solutions that are there.

I will probably keep on modding. Creating and developing a new concept is fun, especially if there is some technical challenge, and is motivating by itself. The problem is that preparing a mod for public use takes 3-5 times the time and effort spent in a version for one’s own use. And it is boring! The motivation for this extra effort is what I don’t have right now and (to remain on topic) is the reason for requesting the per mod averages.

And what you said already helped.
