And that's why I couldn't learn UVW mapping when I was 13 years old. I mean comeon, why can't the stupid max compute the UVW mapping planes himself out of the models if you gave the faces you'd like to have on a single plane propper material ID's .

I downloaded z-brush yesterday, I would like to try that "paint on meshes" thing. I knew about it for ages but thought that now is the time to test it.

just so you guys get an idea

the yellow thing id do as 3 planes instead of 1 box

always keep seperate things seperate - aka dont do a plane for blade and upper/lower guar, do one for blade and one for upper/lower guard instead

Something to keep in mind when doing swords:

The pommel, hilt, and crossguard should all be one object if at all possible. And then the blade should be its own object. Saves the trouble of trying to cover up messy connection points between two objects. I did so in my model here if you want to see an image.

And yes, for the record, UVW mapping (if you are a absolute perfectionist and do everything by hand like me) is a very painful and tedious project.

Hey I understand what Jaysus was saying. I think I can get this modeling down. I'll start with easier simple meshes and work my way up. So erm, start drawing some swords up. ^^, I think I can get this if I try. I'll do the simpler ones first then work my way up. So draw your swords people.

Dude..., there are still a lot of swords that Jay still din't do..., just go through the entire toppic.

But to start off with something simple..., uhhh..., a standart sraid edge perhaps?

Could sketsh something-up I guess...., but my scanner broke (again :bomb_ie: )

Lol yeah a standard straight edge, maybe with a few curves in it. I saw a nice blade earlier, straight edge, Celtic guard, I could possibly make that one.

I've got a pretty "simple" designe up here, I call it "The rangers Edge", it's a 'medium' sized sword and a dagger

Material sugestion (for texture):

- Hilt made from Bone, Horn or antler.

- Wraping is Leather.

- Blade is Silver or Mithril.

It was intended to be a dualwealder (one (short) longsword and a dagger (the dagger is the "sheeld")

I thought one sketch may sefice as the sword and dagger shud look-a-like, as for a scabbard it's a "as simple as posible one" (rangers don't do comlicated or flamboiand stuff, you know).

I'm thinking 'bout making a script for this, havn't had time to look in to that jet, though.

Grrrr, I'll test my luck at it. It looks cool so I don't know, I'll try. Might take a while, first actual sword mesh I'm determined enough to make.
