Work

ok so before Spring break started I went to a horse stable and asked if they needed any help. They said yes. SO I started talking to the boss (Mrs. Tommy) and we decided that I would work during the week and on the weekends. Now on the weekends I would go to horse shows and she would pay me, same as during summer. I would do the camps and she would pay me. Now I worked over spring break like we talked about and I got free lessons. Now she is saying that I wont be payed in the summer, but instead get free lessons like I did for Spring break. But she also said that Im going to be watching her 4 year old son,NOT the campers like we talked about. Also, she cant pay me because Im not 18? Errrr, people babysit when they are how old, 15? So Im POed because her son is the fridggen devil (I SWEAR he IS!) and I wont be getting payed for it, and if I dont then my plans for graduation is basically screwed. BUT I did find another stable that has just started and they are looking for help in the summer with campers. So Im talking with them for work. BUT OMG! how rude of Tommy not to talk to me about the changes before-hand. As I found out the changes from my mom who talked to her about something and topic changed to me. I mean I dont have "PUSH-OVER" stamped on my forehead.

yeah a lil rant of mine. Have any of you had a boss do something incredibly rude, or just down right wrong to you or another co-worker? Stupidity of it All

If she won't pay you to watch her son or to do the work that she hired you to do, don't do the job. It's illegal to promise someone a paycheck for work they will do, and then not deliver the promised payment (unless of course it is undocumented pay - which is illegal in and of itself, I might add - which it sounds like it might be).

That is good that you found another job, however. Remember: this is only one of many dilemmas you will be involved in; others can (and most likely will) have a much more serious moral and ethical impact.

A week in on my first real job ever my boss laid one of his grubby little paws on my rear end.

Needless to say, he ended up on the floor with a bleeding gash on his face (I slammed a stapler right into his forehead 8) ).

Heh... a friend of mine was in a similar situation.

She worked as a waitress, and when she went to pour this guy some coffee, he groped her butt. So, she "spilled" a pot of hot coffee all over his lap.

Kickass, Ita!

Since we are on the subject of individuals that can not/will not keep their filthy paws to themselves... Back when I was in college, I was manager of a Go Kart track. One day one of the customers decided that he would grab that fine piece of ass right in front of him. Obviously he did not bother to ask first, noooo. A guy like him? Why he is so amazing, a woman should feel honored to have him grope her.

So I felt obliged to knock his teeth out and oblige I did.

I should make mention that the "fine piece of ass" was a friend of mine and she was working for me. Oh and she was 16. Dude got pissy. Demanded my boss, so I happily obliged again. For you see, my boss is a Marine and he has told us multiple times to do what I did in those situations. Don't hassle our ladies.

I would have a chat with the Lady you are considering working for, and get the straight scoop from her..... If what she is proposing does not meet with your goals, inform her that you appreciate her offer, but, must decline, as the paycheck is what you need.....

omg Ita! :D

Well she called me back and she is putting the check in the office so I can get it tomorrow. But yeah so I will be payed if i do over night camps and then if she needs 2 councilors during the days then she can pay me, and im at the top of that list so yeah its turning out ok. But the reason why i was working for lessons was because my parents would not pay so I was working to get them free and to also go to the shows. And she will pay me for the shows like we talked about. We just had to clear it all out. but yeah still not sure if i will be working or not so agh! *pulls out hair*

Work is hard to find even when you're an adult and have reasonable education. Been looking consistently for about 3 months. Almost at the point of flipping burgers.

you can flip my burgers anyday ;)

Because the last guy I saw working at McDonalds... He spoke no English (someone called his name, it was Jose) and he was wiping tables with a rag. He then took that rag and wiped out the inside of a trashcan. Jose, being the smart guy he was, then proceeded to wipe the tables with that same rag. Yeah, me and my dad left after that.
