[CTD] on load/death problem with modded SSE

Hello everyone,

 

i have currently a Problem with my Skyrim which is kinda particular but kinda similiar to other ctd post in this forum as i have seen. I have tried my best to my own knowledge or other suggestions found on google and this forum.
I tried reinstalling the whole game i Deinstalled, every mod, redownloaded it, installed it step by step.. even went so far as to reinstall the mods in direct correspendence to the load order later on. I use Loot, WryeBash, SSEEdit.

 

Ok. So now the problem itself,

I start a New game, create my Character using the RaceMenu. I finish it and am in the Room used by the Alternate Start - live another Life Mod. I save the game with the menu So i get a "Big SaveGame" so i have the created character without any actions done for another fresh playthrough later on. After that i start to do my interface and Mod configurations over the MCM before i start any gameplay its mostly 1 hour into the savegame already.

No problems so far. I choose a starting point and start playing, i do save quite often as i play on legendary difficulty with a difficulty overhaul mod. so after about 2 to 3 hours of running around getting into fights and winning nearly dying and so on... i die... of whatever... the game reloads at the last save -> CTD -> No logs, No error messages, nothing. Just closing itself like you Alt-F4 the sh*t out of the game.
So ok.. no problem i think.. maybe a one time thing... nope it isnt... it happens no matter how many new characters i start a new... ALL are crashing upon death like that.

Well as i am saving quite often i pretty much get many saves together about 50-75 for every 2 - 3 hours of gameplay. Like for every major fight or before entering a dungeon or city.

I start to load the last save-> CTD . I load the save before that-> CTD, i can go until Save 1 no matter Auto Save, big save, console save or any other option to save. -> CTD. I start a new Character game works fine. I Die -> CTD -> I load the savegame-> CTD

I tried everything i can think of and i really dont have that many mods installed. not as many as other people do. All Mods are looked at if they are compatible or have patches which enable compatibility. All mods are at their latest available versions. Game is pretty much unplayable that way for me.

I would appreciate any help on what i can try to solve the problem.

Try this: delete skee.dll from your Data\SKSE\Plugins folder. load your game and save it again, then restore skee.dll

Ok. I will try that. And see if it changes something.

What is the specific purpose of the skee.dll and what if it works, why should it fix that problem?

It is used by XPMSSE and RaceMenu but the current version (Alpha 6) is buggy and sometimes causes CTD when loading a save. The author knows about the bug and how to fix it but it needs an update to SKSE64 itself first.

 

If doing what I suggest succeeds, it does not really fix the problem properly but it will help if you do it as a test to eliminate other possible causes of your crashing.

I tried your temporary solution.

 

At first it seemed like it would work. I could at least load my savegame, startet in the Room with Statue of Mara for alternate start and chose a starting option and startet playing. Well first contact with a group of Goblins out of Skyrim Immersive Creatures... i died as i play on legendary difficulty. Well, i went to the loadscreen - > CTD -> Restarted game, pressed continue - > LoadScreen -> CTD, rinse repeat, -> went to load -> selected savegame -> CTD on all Savegames upon entering loadscreen after about 5 seconds.

So unfortunately i couldnt fix it.

 

But it seems always deleting/moving the skee.dll reloading the game creating a save -> restore skee.dll -> load game... seems to work at least until i die again.

That confirms that SKEE Alpha 6 is the problem, and not something else. Basically, you are playing with alpha software and you are trying to use RaceMenu before it is really ready.

 

Archive off your recent saves (they might be playable again when SKEE is fixed), uninstall RaceMenu, uninstall SKEE, revert to XPMSSE 4.20 and pick up your game from the last save you made before you installed Racemenu and SKEE.

 

I'm sure it will get fixed, but we just have to be patient.
