CTD that seems to be caused by an uninstalled mod?

I installed the More Perk Points Per Level mod for SSE (as i used a similar mod for oldrim) and had it set to 1 ppl (1 extra for 2 total), but as I was heading through Haemar's shame towards Ivarstead for the greybeards quest I got a CTD that repeated in the same spot several times. Enabled papyrus logging, tried it a couple times and noticed these lines at the end of each log:

  • [ (0010D150)].PerkPointsPerLevel.calcExp() - "PerkPointsPerLevel.psc" Line 260
    [ (0010D150)].PerkPointsPerLevel.OnUpdate() - "PerkPointsPerLevel.psc" Line 472
    [05/01/2018 - 03:33:11PM] Error: Array index 20 is out of range (0-19)
    stack:
    [ (0010D150)].PerkPointsPerLevel.calcExp() - "PerkPointsPerLevel.psc" Line 260
    [ (0010D150)].PerkPointsPerLevel.OnUpdate() - "PerkPointsPerLevel.psc" Line 472
    [05/01/2018 - 03:33:11PM] Error: Actor value "" does not exist.
    stack:
    [ (00000014)].Actor.GetActorValue() - "<native>" Line ?
    [ (0010D150)].PerkPointsPerLevel.calcExp() - "PerkPointsPerLevel.psc" Line 273
    [ (0010D150)].PerkPointsPerLevel.OnUpdate() - "PerkPointsPerLevel.psc" Line 472
Further analysis of the log shows the "PerkPointsPerLevel" lines spammed all over the place consistently. I uninstalled the mod completely and did a couple more tests and got the same exact logs, then tried going AROUND the long way and got a CTD not much later with the same exact log. Anyone know how to fix? I've cleaned all my mods and sorted my load order on LOOT so I'm not sure what would be causing it. Will post order and full logs if needed.

If you crash, the Papyrus log will tell you nothing useful at all.

This is because the log is buffered, that is, written out to file in chunks, and when the game crashes the last chunk, which might have something relevant in it, doesn't get written. All you see in the log is what went on long before the game crashed.

... and uninstalling a mod mid-game is not recommended, it is like taking off a brick from a wall of bricks .... suddenly, it will fall and break your game. Unfortunately, if you delete / uninstall a mod mid-game, to be safe and out of frustration, you would have to start a new game. I have done it several times and I admit, it is a real pain but at the same time, the only way to avoid future complications.
