thestigma
Hey all, I'm just wondering if anyone knows if there exists any form of sharpening filter built into the engine for Skyrim SE.Since sharpening is such a common type of simple filter and the engine already has lots of post-process effects it would almost be a little weird if it didn't - but I haven't run across anything like that yet. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Yes - I know I can always run a simple shrapening filter in a reshade or ENB, but it's not ideal - both in terms of performance and it interfering with other things (like affecting the UI and not working so great with in-game depth-of-field ect.) sopmac45
Same principle of photographic cameras ... Nikon ( I have been shooting with Nikon since 1990 ) has removed the AA filter from some of its cameras. This filter, ( the same we have available in games options graphic / video menus ) when on, it will make your textures smoothers and when OFF, you will have the textures very sharp. The AA filter ( Antialiasing ) take off the jagged-edges on all textures but as a consequence of using it, it will soft your image / textures. I do not use that filter at all in any of my games. I do not have any texture mods in my Fallout 4 game and my game looks sharp, not better if I had an ENB installed, but sharp enough to satisfy my personal taste ... and I am very picky when it comes down to sharpness because I am a photographer and I want all my pictures, as sharp as they can be and I also want my games as sharp as they can be without loosing performance, so this is the only way if you do not want to install texture mods. I also take off, Godrays, Lens Flare, Decal Quality and only on ultra, my textures and my resolution, 2560x1440. Double click on your Skyrim icon and go into Options. There you can make your changes. However, in my Skyrim game I use texture mods and one ENB but I have a decent rig ( Nvidia 1070, 16gb RAM, i7-6700, Z170 mobo and a 165 Hz monitor ). I use SkyrimSE Engaged ENB; this one comes with 3 different levels : Ultimate, Good Quality and Color Correction. I have used the Ultimate settings and it will drop your fps up to 15, so I decided to finally use the Color Correction and I am only dropping about 5 max fps and getting still all the functions I do care about : sharp, luma-sharpening, contrast and colors. Hope this help.
