Too sharp graphics ?!?!

Hey guys,

Well, I just reinstalled my Skyrim completely and added a 'few' mods to it (generally to enhance graphics).

I had the same mods earlier before reinstalling the game (except for DYNAVISON but it doesn't change anything to my problem) but now I've got a problem with these mods.

My graphics in the game are way TOO sharp. I don't know how to describe it better. They are so sharp that it looks like pixelated and just like an overexaggerated texture.

The mountains in the background look as if they're from a comic, etc...

Also the loading times are very long and it's lagging a lot.

I tried to take a screenshot of this graphic bug but after I took it and looked at it... The graphics are normal at the screenshot. Horrible in-game, but quite normal in a screenshot

As I just said, had the same mods earlier (just earlier versions of some mods) and had no problems with them. I don't know what's happened.

Here's a picture, maybe some of you know which mod(s) issue this problem.

Not sure what your issue is exacly, as (like you said) the picture doesn't show it. If the problem is zig-zaggy edges, then your anti-aliasing settings may be off. Have you looked at these settings in the Skyrim start window (click on "options") or open your graphics software.

Depending on your graphics card/capabilities, you can change the anti-aliasing and also anisotropic filtering values to improve your games appearance. Higher values will result in smoother edges, but they will also affect performance, depending on your card.

For a good description of these functions, and how they affect your games appearance, check out NVidia's tweak guide for Skyrim (google geforce skyrim to find it). Even if you don't have Nvidia's graphic card, it goes over the settings provided by bethesda, explains their functions and has visual examples of the different settings.

Hope that helps!

Thanks but it's unnecessary to explain AA and AF, I know what these are for :)

I tried to recreate the effect with photoshop ;)

It kinda looks.. .'distorted'.

As far as I know it's no problem with my video-/graphiccard or the settings.

So, with the new pics you loaded, I agree with FNB. I had something like that after trying a lighting mod, and deciding I didn't like the effect. My visuals looked a lot like that. I think even when I uninstalled the mod, it had overwritten some of my pref.ini and/or graphics settings files, and they did not revert to the original after uninstall. I ended up restarting a new game to deal with that, but there is probably a better solution? Maybe check your graphics card software for saturation, gamma and color levels? Or the mod page for complete uninstallation procedures?

Sorry for telling you stuff before that you already know--if I'm doing it again, I apologize again. Also notice the pic link has German on it...if English is your second language you are crazy good at it!

Check ini.'s, sometimes Skyrim can muck up the ini.'s when reinstalling or using some console save features (the latter one is very rare, except on certain instances).

If you need vanilla ini.'s just post it, I have backups from waaaay back.

Thanks for all these replies! :))

very nice community :)

Okay, I'll check the .ini's (though I think I will need them, I know one or two mods changed the ini but I don't know the actual settings which I need to set back).

@Gerogiegril: Thanks :) Yeah german is my native language and I'm also speaking italian (quite as good as english ;) )^

It's no problem with my graphic software settings they're adjusted perfect. :D
