jamochawoke
This one has me really frustrated as it should never have happened. I was editing a head mesh and everything was working. In-game I noticed something off with the UV mapping so I loaded up the blend file of the head mesh again and then corrected the UV map, corrected a part of the mesh, then saved again and went through the process of editing the save in nifskope to get it game ready (removed the extra head blender likes to save with and updating tangent spaces). It was very similar to the process I went through to make the edited head mesh in the first place. However, now the texture doesn't show up in-game... but in an odd way. It will show up in the menu when you bring up the inventory but it will not show up in the game or on NPC's or in the chargen. Instead it applies a white material all over the head instead of the texture. The texture paths are correct and it's showing up on the head in the inventory menus but I can't for the life of me figure out why it won't display correctly in the game. The most frustrating part is that I've had this error before a long time ago and did something easy to fix it but for the life of me I can't remember what I did :wallbash:. Any help? http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/4518/screenshot64qy.jpg http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/8393/screenshot62qh.jpg http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/1587/screenshot65s.jpg Edited April 30, 2012 by jamochawoke
jamochawoke
After mucking about with it I have found that if I go into a darker area or follow a high elf NPC into a dark area the texture appears back on the head mesh. However, if I pull out a torch or go back into a lit area the white material recovers the head. So strange. Doesn't happen with any of my other custom heads or textures. jamochawoke
Finally figured it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Blender was exporting the head meshes with vertex colors as well as the texture for some god-forsaken reason. When the white material was showing up it was the vertex coloring. So I went into NifSkope and disabled it. If any unlucky soul should come across this error I found the setting for vertex coloring under NiTriShapeData block under the Head mesh's NiTriShape block in NifSkope. YAY!!!
