ChuckFinly
Ok I was considering buying a GTX 460 SLI ($200), but for an extra ~$50 I could buy a single AMD 7850.Is that 7850 worth the extra 50 considering that I cannot add a second one and its on PCI-E generation 2.0? Thor.
http://www.newegg.ca...N82E16814125419 War over, the gigabyte 7850 wins... i have a gigabyte 7950 and it runs realllly cool, and a lot of head room, so in a sense it beats it just because of that reason.. I had a gtx470's and it ran waay to hot for my liking, now on load i never go above 60c.. I bet the 7850 has that quite and cool tech to  the same as the AMD Phenom chips. hoofhearted4
Ok I was considering buying a GTX 460 SLI ($200), but for an extra ~$50 I could buy a single AMD 7850.Is that 7850 worth the extra 50 considering that I cannot add a second one and its on PCI-E generation 2.0? depends. two 460s will beat a single 7850. however, there is also the option to eventually get a second 7850. imo, its always better to get one single good card then two older cards. because as i said you could always get a second one of the new card. that, and they are only 460s. decent cards, but run hott. if we were talking 480s, then maybe itd be a different story. and also, they are refurbished cards. idk. something about buying refurbished hardware has always made me uneasy. get the 7850 (its also what i plan on putting in my new build this summer (unless nVidia comes out with something by then)) Edited May 1, 2012 by hoofhearted4
fms1
I don't mean to hijack the thread, but can you tell me if the dual gpu cards have the same issues with games as 2 cards in SLI\ Crossfire?
FMod
Yes, they are the same as two cards, and treat each other as separate cards, just packaged on one board.
