Just wondering about face counts...

Hello all,

 

Just wanted to check real quick. I can't find any info on the internet about face count for guns that you plan to import into the game. My gun has about 3600 faces right now. I'm not sure how this coresponds with polys, but I know they are not the same thing. Just wanted to make sure this isn't too high. Thanks in advance for any responses.

If you didn't triangulate it, face count would be how many 3 and 4 sided polys you have. If you did triangulate it, poly and face count would be the same (4 sided polys get split into two triangles.)

 

Just the main part (without the bolt and other moving parts) of the vanilla hunting rifle is 2825 polys. You could post a screen grab of the mesh and I could let you know if parts of it look too poly heavy.

Thanks...not ready to export the mesh yet so it is still in WINGS 3D. I have Teselated it, so everything is triangulated except hidden faces. I always leave those untriangulated to reduce poly count. Your post was very helpful so far. I'm cloaning a pistol for the game, and the vanilla pistol is about half the face count as my pistol, but compared to the rifle, 3,500 doesn't seem that bad! LOL
