MrPerson61
So a while ago my HDD with all my games on it died and I got a new one to store all my games on, except SSE because for some reason it always had crashing issues running off a drive that was not the C: drive, but all my NMM files and mods were stored on the E: drive which worked completely fine on my old drive. So when I got my new drive, I got NMM again and downloaded all the mods I had originally not realizing that all the plugins were still in the SSE folder but just not managed in NMM because they weren't technically installed with THAT NMM, but the old one. Realizing this, I deleted the entirety of SSE from the C: drive and redownloaded it, then reinstalled all the mods I have in NMM. Everything looks fine, NMM has all the mods stored in its folders, the paths to the game in the settings is fine, and it even senses SKSE64, yet even though all my plugins are activated in the plugin list and sorted with LOOT, and they are in the Data folder of SSE after installation, whenever I launch the game it only has the Base game, the DLCs and Update plugins, nothing else. Tl;dr Skyrim is only loading the base game even though NMM and Loot show active plugins and the plugin files are in the Data folder of skyrim I have attached a .txt with my copied load order from LOOT if it matters. I hope its not something super simple that makes me look dumb lol
BaronofHe11
Give skyrim, SKSE64, and NMM admin rights. Make sure you are using SKSE launcher to launch the game. I see that you moved skyrim off the C drive but make sure nothing else in relation to skyrim is located there . Try restarting your computer if you haven't done so after having this problem. MrPerson61
I put everything in admin mode that you mentioned, but no dice. Also I must have been unclear, SSE is on the C: drive in its own steam directory (C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition) and NMM and its subfolders along with all its stored mods is located at (E:\Games\Nexus Mod Manager) which used to work fine. Also I looked in the appdata folder for the plugin list files to see what they had in them, and the original plugins.txt was formatted weird so I deleted it along with a .BAK file named plugins.nmm. I then disabled and enabled the plugins in NMM to re-generate the files I deleted. The Plugins.txt looks like it should with the * next to each active mod, but the .Bak file is completely empty both before and after if viewed as a text document. Even doing that, and running SKSE64 straight from the folder still has the game come up vanilla for some reason. I would upload a copy of the plugins.txt if I could find the button to do it again, but its pretty much the same thing as the LOOT one I originally posted just formatted correctly. The .bak file plugins.nmm still has nothing in it though.
bill8872
NMM sometimes dose not like being on a different drive. it's best to place NMM, and any game your using it for on the same drive.Steam games do not have to be on the same drive as it is. There is an option to chose which drive you want it on.
MrPerson61
I'll try moving NMM to my C drive then, though I swear it worked fine before. Though Fallout 4 is stored on my E drive which may cause problems. Would it be an issue to have 2 separate installs of NMM, one for SSE and the other for F4 in different locations? MrPerson61
Well I don't know if its been this way the entire time or not but I feel like a complete idiot now. For some reason I had in my head the main menu "Addon" button meant plugin list, because I thought either SSE or F4 had a thing that showed active plugins at the main menu for testing. So every time I checked before to see if the mods were active I just went to that menu and saw only DLCs and the Update. But lo and behold I actually started a game with the "Alternate Start" mod on, and it worked instantly. When I first had the issue it would launch the vanilla in the cart start even with that mod active but after doing all this stuff I don't know what the specific solution was. I feel like a complete fool now and have to redownload all the mods I deleted but hey at least its completely clean and will get me to look at new mods again. But thanks for efforts to help me, I hope it stays working lol
