saamziel
hey people i'm having trouble with a mod i've been making. see i started a space mod. go to other worlds and stuff now making the other world spaces and npcs basic buildings bla bla bla i got down but the ships i cant do. i need one with moving parts I.E. elevators, consoles that do stuff, travels to different locations(around tamriel for now) and maybe a engine power by a sigil stone(or a chicken i prefer a chicken but whatever you gotta do) for lore sake. it doesn't have to look anything specific just believable i included a pic of the general area i'm leaning toward but any ship is a good ship for now. also i have seen a couple posts about moving and piloting ships so if you dont want to make it transportable cause your working on other projects thats cool. just kinda make it in a way to be able to make it move later on. all right thanks everybody for listening to me ramble hope someone bites on this thread cause you'd really be helping me out http://www.isotx.com/uploads/InterfaceLead...ork/airship.jpg

tyreil829
in my sense mate no i dont think so if you wanted it to detail then it would be near impossable and the scrpits needed to get it working is not going to work as well sorry mate this mod may no happen savvy? rickythecat
This mod sounds quite possible actually. You'd probably have to separate the ship into interiors and exteriors, which would be truly tricky if you want the ship to actually be pilotable, and I'm not sure about the elevator, but for the most part I like the idea (especially after looking at the nice reference picture.) In the Dragon City Mod thread, we were actually just discussing how to make a flying ship work, so you could probably look there and learn a lot. Now, I'd be willing to help, but my talents are mostly limited to writing and retexturing, but if you can find someone to handle the bigger aspects, I'll gladly do what I can! EDIT: I should also mention that when I say, "possible," I mean, "possible with a lot of effort and ingenuity." It wouldn't be easy at all. saamziel
i agree with you totally ricky(also thanks for your willingness to help you ROCK!!!) but here is the thing as per it being pilotable this is only the best case scenario. as long as it can be like moved to other local. say input into a hud on the bridge of the ship "ic city" and the whole thing teleports there hovering above. this i think would be easier for all but piloting would be the most fun, but as i think more on it piloting seams like it would be too buggy cause if i want this massive ship to go to a different world space entirely it would have to have the teleport feature first and formost as its main function and piloting it a secondary or optional characteristic put in for added allure so combining the 2 would probly be impossible so if we can lets focus on moving it as a whole to predefined locals close to or above cities
rickythecat
Okay, now we're talking! Having the ship "teleport" from place to place would, indeed, be a relatively simple matter, so long as the ship itself didn't have to move. I'm not sure about having the FMV/flash, but that's only because I've never seen it done before. Now that I think about it, oblivion DOES have a few cutscenes, so it may very well be doable. Here's what I think would be the simplest solution, though this is mostly just conjecture. Simply put, we have multiple copies of the ship already arranged on these "different worlds." You would select the ship, and a list of destinations would be displayed. Once you choose one, you would be teleported to the duplicate ship in the corresponding area, possibly with a cutscene. As long as only one ship could be seen at a time, it would appear that it had transported you from one place to another. It's like a glorified fast-travel and basically the same as the system used in Morrowind. Keep in mind that this is merely the simplest solution, and that other, more impressive options may still be viable! What do you think?

What do you think? yea cut scenes would be a new feature no one has tried yet(or the chicken engine) thats wat would separate it from other mods. a kind of hook or catch. i've been playing around with that idea for a while now cause you can do so much more with them say for not just showing ship flying away but also talk scene as well it would rock to be able to see your persona in a pulse pounding cinematic sequence ya? but save that one for later cause if we could get an animator up in here we would have possibly(and i dont want to brag) the best mod eva cha! anywho on to biz-ness i like you idea for multiple ships, and the only foreseeable problem i could think of is someone using console commands to move to other places. well would it be possible to combine our 2 ideas can we like have it like a ship in each worldspace but each ship can teleport around to different places in that space? that would eradicate someone walking to the next town and seeing another ship and we can easily fill the gap of someone using console commands by saying NO! bad cheater. but awesome idea workin smarter not harder is the way to go so which ever ways is easiest ya know rickthecat? cha gimme feed back cause right now i got like a ton of more ideas. sky docks, sky battles(which might be hard but soooooo cool), a whole new faction/quest to man the ship(this would need some extra help cause i'm not so good at the actual scripting of quests or anything for that matter) but ya i can write up a ton of story board for this. saamziel
lol kinda got ahead of myself sorry bout that. anywho which way do you think would be the best course of action ricky?
rickythecat
Hmm... Now that I think about it, it seems like it would be possible to script things in such a way that only only one of the ships exists at any one time, giving the illusion of there only being one ship and still thwarting any attempts at abusing the Console. Though, this would probably be a good time to remind you that my modding skills are mostly just limited to texture-work and writing. All the technical stuff is a bit beyond me, so we'll still need to find somebody skilled in the scripting arts. Personally, I only know enough about the construction set to get a new set of armour in-game. But on to the most important issue: Chicken-Engines? Please. Chicken-Engines are SO passe. These days, everyone uses Beef-Engines. I mean, where have YOU been? EDIT: OH, so you're thinking up something EPIC here, are you? In that case, PM me some ideas; mostly because I'm curious, but also to discuss feasability without cluttering up the thread.
